I Met Gabe And Tycho

<div class="IPBDescription">who wants to touch me ?</div> Hehehehe, there's no real point to this post. I just felt the need to share the fact that I have finally met Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins.

They came to DigiPen and were part of a panel of people that were talking about the future of Massively Multiplayer games.

I will comment that I was completely taken by surprise that they didn't look even a little bit like their characters at all.

That is all, kthxbai.

    heh. I've met Scott Kurtz (<a href='http://www.pvponline.com/' target='_blank'>PVP</a>). He's actually kind of a jerk though. :P

And yeah, the real Gabe and Tycho look absolutely nothing like their characters. :P

P.S. You go to DigiPen? Awesome. I got a friend that goes there. Do you know Nate Purkypile (LPlasma) ?

Had I known that they were coming for more than an hour before they actually showed up, then I would have prepared with a camera and whatnot. But I don't have pictures. Unless you guys want to see a picture of my buddy Jeep standing next to them.

Yeah, I met them at E3 last year. Cool bunch of guys.

And im sure if your interested you can track down a real picture of Gabe and Tycho. And theyre about as far away from their cartoon counterparts as you can get =D
  • MantridMantrid Lockpick Join Date: 2003-12-07 Member: 24109Members
I found like 5 pictures of them when I Googled "Gabe Tycho". Oddly, though, I was 404'd on each except for one tiny thumbnail...

I don't think they exist. Penny Arcade became a living entity, and eventually killed them both.

Doesn't surprise me. He seems to be that way. His comic strip suffers because of it too, I think. Then again, he likes Wil Wheaton, <i>and that's just too scary.</i>

    ----

Next time somebody meets the Penny Arcade guys, try to talk some sense into them for me. Poor screwballs can't seem to read a news article correctly.

I cant say im surprised about Kurtz being kind of a jerk too. I do like reading his comics, but theres something about his posts and whatnot.

And not to mention he updates late. The post for the day sometimes doesnt show up til the evening, which is a pain.

Yes, I notice that happens a <b>lot</b> these days. I think it would be much better for the comic (for many reasons, one being "the funny") if he went to a once-weekly strip, perhaps bi-weekly. After all this time, one would think he could get a grasp on the time frame, but he hasn't yet. He can't even get his print comics out to press on time!

Anyway, I need my daily PvP. I have to see it when I click through my web-comics! Otherwise, I'd have to bump Get Fuzzy to second (right after Dilbert, of course), and then Pearls Before Swine would have to move up... arg!

After you said this, I sorta blacked out. Since you like this obviously terribly stupid and <b>un</b>funny comic that states the obvious in a wonderfully original way - AS IN A NOT FUNNY WAY - I no longer consider your opinion on "the funny" applicable to this conversation.

Seriously, Get Fuzzy is pathetic. What a waste of time. My sister has a calendar and at least one comic book of this strip. I have smiled a couple times, chuckled <b>maybe</b> once. The comic has two talking animals that state the obvious in a "cute" way because goocheegoocheegoo day are aneemulls oh so cute cuteeecututee!!111 My sisters and mom are usually in stitches over the daily cartoon, while my dad and I are staring at each other trying to find out why the strip was funny. "Yes, peanut butter has peanuts in it, and it's sticky. Why is a dog with peanut butter on his face funny?" Yet it gets them every time...

If you want funny, get Calvin and Hobbes. <b>That,</b> my poor funny-seeking friend, is true comedy.

Truer words were never stated. I have at least 1 Calvin and Hobbes compilation book at each of my usual hangouts.

    (A) Already love Calvin and Hobbes. I own a good deal of the treasuries.

    (B) I think you're confusing "Family Circus" with "Get Fuzzy".

"Get Fuzzy" can be funny. Example, today's strip:

Satchel (Dog): So you didn't get any signatures for your anti-ferret petition, eh? The irony is I bet even Fungo [ferret] could have got a couple of anti-cat signitures! Ha ha! [This is not really the example part. That line was actually kinda lame.]

Bucky (Cat): I'm not even going to dignify that with an answer.

    *Bucky smacks Satchel*

    Satchel: Hey!

Bucky: ...I <i>will</i>, however, dignify it with a smack in the head.

Anyway, its a moot point, because you can't argue with someone saying that, "No, thats not funny. You can't find that funny. Your sense of humor is WRONG!"

Well, except for Family Circus. And Marmaduke. Family Circus and Marmaduke need to die.

No, I know Get Fuzzy. As I said, most of my other family members are ga-ga over it. It's simply not funny. That's nice that you can like a comic like that, but I'll never understand why. I mean it, really. So many of the daily comics on the calendar are merely stating the obvious, and end up sounding like a desparate attempt at being funny. They fall flat just about every time. The only thing I can guess is that it's being said by an animal. "Oh, that's <b><i>so</i></b> Satchel! Ha! Ha! Ha! What a funny dog!"

My sisters often say to me that Bucky is quite similar to me. They laught at the cat, and think his sardonic and sarcastic mannerisms are great. Yet they are annoyed by me, and tell me to leave them alone often, or that I'm too negative, or too sarcastic, or in a grumpy mood.

It's gotta be that it's coming from a cat, because I see no other reason to think the comic is funny (although, even with it coming from a dog or a cat, it's still not funny to me).

    Meh, everyone has their faults. I sometimes read <a href='http://www.whiteninjacomics.com' target='_blank'>white ninja</a>

Most of the time it's not funny, but when they hit a mark, they friggin nail it dead center.
