GameSpy's Title Fight again. We all know how sad we were the last time Diablo II won over KOTOR, a clearly superior RPG.

Vote for Fallout, because we all know it's a better game. And if you prefer Diablo II, don't go to the voting link, um....look over there! A three-headed monkey!

Brainless, easy to play mainstream "rpg" titles will always win above well put together, in depth and ultimately better games. This is because morons can actually understand D2....

It's very likely you saw it prepackaged with Fallout 1 for $10, in which case you're missing out on two of the best-made and higly-respected RPGs of all time -- among the ranks of Planescape: Torment, Baldur's Gate 2, and KOTOR. You may not be used to turn-based combat, but if you enjoy games where interactions with NPCs inside and outside your party affects big and little things in your percievable world, you'll appreciate the work put into it.
The character sheet is a classless system, so you're never locked in to being, say a fighter class character -- just put points into your other traits and skills next time you level up. Also unlike some RPGs, instead of boasting about a few multiple ending choices, the ending also has an entire slideshow with audio explanations -- rather than just coming to one ending that's either good, evil, or neutral, each slide can be different as a result of your actions or inactions: some may be good, some may be bad. Full interactivity.

I voted Diablo 2. Fallout 2 was a joke compared to the original. And anyone who says Diablo 2 is for morons obviously hasn't played the game very much.

Voted Fallout 2, even though it wont win because Diablo has more broad appeal. I can lose myself in F2 every day for a month or more. 'tis a beautiful thing. Played through Diablo 2, all i found was a clickfest.

Fallout 2 is superior in every way, with the exception of its fan base.

I spent months on fallout 2, I even took the homicidal path and killed every single NPC in the game (And still completed the final quest)

/me votes Fallout 2 because it actually requires that you have an IQ more then 25 to play it unlike D2.

I have a long, sordid love affair with Diablo. Fallout, while very fun, never really struck my fancy as much as it seems to strike that of others. Maybe I have some rare form of ADD where i laothe pseudo turnbased-ism.

So I'm voting for Ralph Nader. Thank you.

Hooray for Fallout 2!! Im still depressed about the unknown fate of Fallout 3 though...mmm 3D goodness.

The Fallout games are the best RPGs I have ever played, only because instead of knights and wizards and dragons, they are about snipers, scientists and super mutants. Its post apocolypse mixed in with 50's charm that makes it such a great game.

QUOTE

Fallout 2 was a joke compared to the original. What, are you serious? Fallout 2 took everything that made Fallout great, and then added a whole lot more. I mean, the storyline is great, the NPCS don't constantly shoot you in the back, and the world is just so much bigger!

Bah, now I have to play it again, damn you all!

Edit* My favorite character setup:
Sniper:
High Perception
High Intellegence
High Charisma
Low endurance
Avg everything else

Traits:
Gifted
Finesse

Tagged Skills:
Small Weapons
Speech
Lockpick

Perks (ones I can remember):
Sniper
Sharpshooter
Speaker

One thing is certain, for a pure hack n' slash nothing beats the original diablo... Im quite tempted to go play it for a bit.

I havent seen any copys of the original fallout for sale, but I want to try it

Hmm - I've never played Fallout. There's another trip to the bargain store. I wouldn't class Kotor anywhere near as good as Torment. Kotor is bland.

I liked the UFO games, even apocalypse. I guess they count as RPGs.

Damnit. Fallout 2? Diablo II? Flamethrowers, Plasma Rifles, and Gauss Rifles (oh my!)? Axes, swords, and shields? So torn But, I think in the end, my vote goes to Fallout 2. Simply because I love a good post-apocalyptic setting, despite the lack of demons.

On the plus side, Marik, I'm sure you were pleased when KOTOR not only won its Extra-Life bid, it also beat out Chrono Trigger and Grim Fandango in its re-entry match. I know I was! Of course, I only voted for it because I've never played Chrono Trigger, and have only played the demo of Grim Fandango.

Fallout 2... voted for it, sure.
D2's gameplay is much more primitive to F2's. I can remember marrying both the man and the girl in F2 and executing them afterwards or feeding them to some aliens ["oh noes they hit me!"] , being a pr0nst4r, mass-murderer (dunno if it's called like this) and I think a child-killer. In addition I slept with the Mafia boss' family.
While in D2 I was always the "Hero that will save us all, may god bless you!" bs!

Damnit, my dexterity wasn't high enough to become a pr0nstar, and that bugged me, i REALLY wanted that job.

But i never did any of the killing sprees or anything, i always helped people selflessly and did lots of good deeds..... oh, and i stole every item i needed and never got caught.

My nickname was "Gravedigger" because people caught me raiding the graveyard in The Den (i think it was there) and screamed, heh.

But as to the whole "Diablo 2 is for morons" argument, all you do is hammer the mouse buttons and occasionally press a number key for a potion. I've played Diablo and Diablo 2 through countless times on every skill level, but putting that aside, Diablo 2 doesn't deserve to be anywhere near Fallout 2, or KOTOR either, it's a badly put together game with virtually no depth, the exact opposite of Fallout 2.

Diablo 2 is role-playing for people that don't like role-playing games, and it shows.

Voted Diablo II.

I liked Fallout, but it didn't hold me in the way Diablo II did for so long. And yes, I will be the first to admit it is pure hack & slash, and NIL RPG.

I haven't played Fallout.

Diablo 2 can be quite difficult and complex, depending on how you build your character. The problem is, of course, that it's only difficult and complex if you build a difficult character. It is fun to play a fighting necromancer, or a poisoning necromancer, or a paladin that only uses prayer.... etc.
