Hmm, for one thing Grim Fandango doesn't seem like it belongs, but it was a good game, had a good storyline and a nice atmosphere to it, as well as a nice cast memorable characters. Chrono Trigger has a great story also, as well as nicely defined characters. KOTOR also has great storyline, in fact I would say that KOTOR is better than the movies in terms of the story, it also has great graphics and a nice battle system, but the characters (with the exception of HK-47) weren't as nicely developed as the previous two games...

    Man, this is a toughie <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Eh ? What ? Comparing Grim Fandango to Kotor is like comparing apples with small lead sculptures of Michelangelo's David. Kotor is an RPG. Grim Fandango is a point-and-click adventure. The only connection between the two is Lucas.

That said, there are a few points that can be compared between them simply as game that I've picked out at random.

Grim Fandango's atmosphere is lush and pervading; it apes <i>film noir</i> so well, it exudes dark, smoky rooms with slatted lighting effects. Kotor's atmosphere is as sparse as a desert planet.

Grim Fandango's voice acting is second to none. Kotor's is flat. You may as well compare Laurence Olivier with Ginger the cat.

Grim Fandango's script is full of sharp and dark humour. It has witty one-liners coming out of its skeletal ears. Kotor takes itself too seriously to stoop to humour. What a surprise from a Star Wars spin-off.

Grim Fandango's attention to detail in the sets is meticulous and central to the atmosphere of the game. Kotor's is filler and uninspiring.

All in all, the gameplay of Kotor was kind of fun. But I didn't feel: "wow - I'm playing a great game here" ! The only times I laughed was at the serious moments done badly. If you want an RPG that is fun, deep, atmospheric, complex and has a sense of humour, try Torment. It's so much better.

Kotor will never be a classic. Grim Fandango will always be a classic. A great game that has obviously been forgotten here. Buy it. Play it. Love it. If you don't like it, all I say is: get a sense of humour.

I've never played Chrono Trigger. Perhaps one from the bargain bin ?

Its an RPG for the SNES... or you could get it in some kind of special edition thing with Final Fantasy 2 (I think its 2) for the PSX.

Well, there are more *ahem* "illegal" ways to play Chrono Trigger, but since that discussion is taboo I will let you all figure those out yourselves, I feel dirty for even just suggesting it.

plus if you choose to do so, you won't get to see the tasty anime cutscenes that Toriyama put in the PSX version <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Diablo II beating KotOR: just retarded.

ChronoTrigger beating KotOR, or anything else for that matter: just the natural order of things.

    Grim Fan-freakin'-Dango!

I love that game... and I think Lucas Arts might be thinking about a sequel, but that could be a problem if its done badly...

I'm actually happy to see that there's KotoR in the vote - otherwise, I would've been damn hard pressed to decide between the two titles, both of which are in my personal Top 10 of all time. Seeing that CT is closest to the nice, yet ultimately average KotoR, I voted for it. Magus alone is cooler than the whole of KotoRs cast, and by this, I'm excluding an amphibian knight, a prehistoric tribe leader, the maybe most sympathetic driod character of all time, an pyrothechnic inventor and a punk-princess...
Besides, face it, both the Old Republic <i>and</i> the Siths have nothing on Zeal, the Eternal Empire <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Glottis is, without a doubt, one of the best computer game characters ever created. He is nothing short of hilarious.

Wow. Just wow. I cant believe someone exists on this earth who has not played Chrono Trigger. It is leaps and bounds above any RPG ever created. Playing the game is like having 20 orgasms at once. Yeah, it is all that and a bag of chips.

Which reminds me... I think im gonna pop it in and go for run through #43

Sorry. Chrono Trigger wins out. If it was Chrono Cross, I could compromise.

I would like to kill ALL 19918 voters who denied Planescape Torment the chance for the Extra Life. (well, maybe sparing the 834 voters who voted for Thief, I can understand them).

But for the rest of them... I will tear their bodies asunder, then shift their bones in painful angles and let their flesh reheal.

Even with its fate known, I voted for Grim Fandango.
