A Suggestion For Mappers

Let me begin by noting that I am not a map maker and I probably won't be making maps any time soon. I believe, however, that I have enough knowledge of the process to offer this suggestion that wouldn't require a terrible amount of extra effort on the part of mappers.
I play in quite a few pick up games through #nspug on gamesurge, and one of the biggest timesinks involved with pugging is sitting in the ready room waiting for people to join/organize the server. Naturally, being stuck bunny hopping around the same ready rooms over and over can get a bit tedious after awhile. Secret rooms always make things more interesting, but usually the effect wears off by the 100th time you've seen it. Lately, I've passed the time by making a decal mosaic on one of the walls, and it was while doing this that I had an idea for something a bit more engaging: ready room tic tac toe.
Instead of making an intricate secret room (although these are cool too), consider making a large box room with a number of large # textures along the wall that can be used to play tic tac toe using different colored/designed spraypaints. It seems to me that the effort needed to do this would be very small compared to everything else mappers do, and it would go a long way toward keeping pug/scrim ready room waits more tolerable.
I'm sure there are other fun things that could be put in ready rooms, from the intricate to the simple (connect 4 textures would probably work as well as tic tac toe), but the point is that the more things there are to play with, the better your ready room will be for people having to wait there.

I agree, doing something like that would encourage more people to just stay in the RR.
for my part wouldnt add such "games":
- this will keep players out of the game
- entity count
- its boring after a while
better idea:
start making intersting locking things for the rr that:
- look cool
- sound cool
- force players to join cause they want to see the rest of the map
- force players to join because the rr gets them into the game-mood (!!!)
imagine you enter the rr... there are some sounds of battle nearby, a ship flies by at the distance, here and there are some battlemarks, empty shells (one model with hundrets of shells instead one model used 100 times ^^), some marines passing by on a catwalk some feet abouve your head... (I know, this would be very complicated because ns doesnt support scripted_sequences anymore...)
this would be a cool effect. it would force the player to join cause he doesnt want to miss any more action. personaly... ehm... I use a bindkey so entrances are just for the noobs <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
