now that you bring up that third party radeon cards arent reliable, i just wanted to know if this is considered to be one, as im not exactly sure what defines a third party radeon (no ATi sticker?). well if anyone has any feedback on this card, please post. thanks.
I'd go with ATi, I've never had a problem with one of their products yet (Rage 128, Radeon 32MB, AIW Radeon 9200), where I have with nVidia (TNT2, GeForce 2). But it's probably Hewlett Packard being a retarted company.
They set the graphics driver to run in 8x AGP mode when I got it. It has a 4x AGP slot...
Duh...
OH YEAH! I remember... The nVidia cards have a slight performance advantage in OpenGL based games, but ATi gets a larger performance increase in DirectX 9.

Look for a rare ATi 9600 256mb version. They are VERY rare, but if you find one, its usually 200-230. <!--QuoteEnd--> </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'> <!--QuoteEEnd--> Right, and how is a 9600 256mb supposed to be better than 9800 128/256?

I'd say get the 9800pro. I have one and it hasn't given me any problems yet.
