It has far worse CSS and box model support than nearly every other browser. Firefox is pretty standards compliant these days, as is Opera. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I never said it complied to more standards or wasn't a war criminal when it comes to making up their own crap, I just said I personally liked the way it rendered the HTML and whatnot. Also it is faster, faster to load, faster to open new windows, etc. And I actually LIKE my browser/os integration.
As far as the web standards, I was complaining that ALL OF THEM SUCK. None of them implement all of the W3 standards CORRECTLY, they all wanna do this or that and interpret the standards the way they think they should have been written.
Oh and thanks for the link to that Web Development Toolbar link Fam, I'll definately use this at work. I got a similar doohickey for IE that does all sorts of neat stuff, but this would help compliment that. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
You guys have got me intrigued though, so I'll DL firefox and give it a try and see if I fall in love with it the way you guys have. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> I wish Firefox loaded slightly faster for the first time, I agree. Im sure theres some way to do it, but its not too much of a bother really.
DOOM, you say that you wish the web browsers wouldnt implement their own ideas of the specification, and yet you also state that you like IE's renderer. IEs renderer messes correctly coded pages up.
Truly DOOM, be a convert. I wasnt convinced, and I never liked tabbed browsing, and it took me a good while (and an IE skin), to convert to Firefox, but its truly worth it. Theres a few niggles, as there will be with any beta, but its nice. Im even using tabbed browsing (opening up multiple pages on the forums all at once, then just scanning them one by one, for example).
But most of all. Apart from popup blocking and security changes to IE about the middle of this year, there are said to be no more features or support for technologies added until Longhorn. Which is, what, 3 years away? I need something that will last that time, be worked on, and stay with the current technologies, and IE6 wont. Opera beats IE here by a long way too, and it has a lot of nice features also, but its a bit bloatware for my tastes, along with Mozilla navigator.
(As for everyone wondering why they should upgrade to Firefox from Firebird/Pheonix, the reason is easy: The cute little fox! )
