How nice are NS' sound effects?

I was thinking about whether NS sounds effects are of the same quality as the graphics. NS graphics are a definate improvement of HL since the maps look really good, and also some new GFX effects like better particles have been added. By sound quality do all the weapons have a good sounds, and not sound puny. Also by listening can you tell if the aliens are trying to jump you, or are close by. I think sound is just as important as graphics when making a good game.
For example a bet is scary moment is when you are walking along then you suddenly hear tons of alien shrieks, and get suddenly attacked from all sides. Definately a moment which you might fall out of your seat.

Sound is excellent, and sound is important. Each weapon has unique sounds, and each alien has unique sounds. And they're all spectaculer.

I don't just fall out of my seat, I fly 15 feet(5 meters) into the air and then crash into my ceiling.
*edit* ARG EVIL GREEDO BEASTIE!! ;D you beat me to it.
The sounds of this mod are better than any mod I have played and many games.

On topic again, the sounds rock, hard, and they even change with weapon upgrades.
