I accidently made this is public discussion, but does anyone know after downloading the skin what do you do with them?

Do you need photoshop or some sort of program to make the skins work in-game?

Yes, I have downloaded the skins already though.

So, whats the point of the Skins folder if you don't move them there?

Skins are for STEAM skins. You can change the green military themed that Steam uses. I'm not going to explain how you add Steam skins

Go to SteamApps\steam account*\half-life\nsp

Your steam account will be the only folder in there, and it is the email you signed up with. If it's not there (as it wasn't with me), create it manually, i.e. pepsi@hotmail.com , then in there, create a half-life folder, and install NS there (if you haven't already).

Weapon and building models goes in \nsp\models
Players go in player\soldier, heavy, alien1, alien2, alien3, alien4, alien5 and gestate

Hope that made sense.

Arrrggg...

I made the Old Models and put them there, I then put the new models in the copied ones in Player under alien 1,2,3,4,5 and I put it in front of the old one thats already in there (I have to DL them if I don't put them there?).

New One = 1
Old One = 2

New file 1 2 old file

It doesn't work, the skins are still the normal Khaara models!

So the models u dl, u put in the alien 1,2,3,4,5 folders and the old models are in a folder called oldmodels. Well im not really sure then.

I think you can replace skins using half life model viewer.. correct me if im wrong?

you just edit the original bmp of the skin and change it to the one you want, making sure its the same size and all.

Ive actually been trying to make a weapon model, could someone please help me, im confused with milkshape, im not to sure how to actually get joints and bones into it and actually impliment it into the game.

people always get models mixed up with skins.

skins are just what the colour of them are like, models are totally new... uh, models(shape)

If your adding a skin to the STEAM PROGRAM:
close steam
create a new folder in your steam/skins folder, using any name you would like.
start steam
go under "settings"
and then in the "skins" tab select from your drop down list the name you put in step two
exit steam
start steam in your new skin.

If your adding a skin to the DEFAULT MODELS:
download Half Life Model Viewer
find the model you have a replacement skin for and double click on it.
in the half life model viewer (HLMV) click over to the "textures" tab
use the pull down menu to navigate to the desired skin
hit the "import" button located on the right, navigate to your new skin image
once the skin has been imported, go to "save as" under the file menu in HLMV, and save in the same location as the original model, be sure to overwrite the model name so it will be put into use.

If your adding a skin and it's not a skin but a MODEL: (ends in a .mdl)
navagate to your steam/steamapps/<your e-mail>/halflife/NSP/models
and replace the files... if it is a player model, there is a folder inside the models folder for them, be sure you overwrite your existing files to be sure that they are being used.

Ahhh, I had the problem of DLing these models indivually now, I DL'ed the SC Pack and extracted it to the Player folder, oddly enough it worked at first it seems but the old player models (skulk is still a skulk ect) are still there?
