In game while being rushed by an Onos are you really gonna pay attention to the little clip on the back of the gun? Hell...even if it look like a shoe, I would still blast away at them Onos'. HOOAH!
Ahh Sarge you are wrong you must think of everthing as a wepon in that situation, even the shoe shaped clip, it could save you life if it was the right shape! like so:
Onos charges Marine fires entire GL ammo into onos Onos gets to marine Marine attempts to shove clip into Onos's eye... Marine gets trampled
Ok so I was wrong! ;D All for your enjoyment, this was a sarcastic post.

It's knowing how they expect it to look. It might not match with how it DOES look, but they've seen weapons in Half-Life, and other games, and they know that a grenade the size of your fist shouldn't fit through a barrel the size of your pinky. They know, approximately, how big the grenades must be, and how big a clip must be to accomodate them.
But Mike Wislocki (BathroomMonkey, the weapon modeller) has already said what he has said many times in the past. He wanted to take it out, as he considered it a placeholder until he could put the drum-style (rather than clip-style) ammo canister for the HMG. He got ready to take the model out when people protested. They liked it. I like it.
That doesn't mean that I wouldn't want to see it improved upon. Perhaps by saying <!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td><b>Quote</b> </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"><!--QuoteEBegin-->After all the polish but into this game it would be kinda sloppy to release it with the gl like that<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd--> wasn't the best way to bring it up. No, that certainly wasn't the best way to bring it up. Would it affect gameplay? Not really. It could look like a shoe AND shoot rainbows, and I would still play. But, eventually, it would be nice to see the model polished and improved, as I would hope to see the game itself evolve and improve. So I would, eventually, like to see the model with a clip that looks like it could hold 6 grenades and a large bore barrel. Should it hold up the release? No. Should it be put at the top of the to-do list, as it needs to be done immediately, if not sooner? Certainly not. It's just the icing on the cake. And it's definitely not sloppy.
And I don't think CD was being malicious when he made his comment. More like...wry. Or some attempt thereof. Why, indeed, can't we be friends?

Look, I'd like for this thing to be as polished as possible, but the weapon is in and it's functional. We haven't heard a <b>peep</b> out of the playtesters on this one, and if it passes under their collective radar, that tells me that it's acceptable for the first release.
Please trust me when I say that I will do everything in my power to make sure that the model in there is as high quality as possible, but understand that I truly don't think it's worth withholding the game from you guys for however long it takes. It's very much a patch item.
Ok, I (excluding the people being flamed here) seem to be the only person who thinks there is something very wrong going on here.
No one should ever be flamed for voicing their opinion as long as it was not writtin as a flame or insult, let alone a lead developer encouraging it. I do not know if monse was joking or what, but it's not like jediyoshi is some noob who just wondered onto the boards.
Perhaps a better reply to his critisism would be "Noted. Final touches will be added to later versions. Right now the concern is gameplay, bugs, and getting the game released.
not monse saying "ok, everyone flame this idiot for being such an idiot as I sit back and laugh"

We have only pretty pictures. So we pick them apart as much as possible.
Thanks for the thumbs-up, Monkey. I think the work you've done is awesome.

And no, CD, I'm not kissing up to the forum mods, I was sick of you before Greedo said anything.
