Wow.
Remember how epic everything felt in Call of Duty? Like you were the spearhead of the war, driving slowly but surely through the enemy? Love that room to room fighting, streetfights, and the downright incredible single play maps?
Did you get dissapointed in the Multiplayer version of the maps?
Well, here ya go: Heat of Battle .30.
Seriously, its friggin incredible. The maps are designed better than ANY of the regular multiplay maps(with carentan coming in close). I mean, first off, their HUGE. Second off, they have points all over where you feel like your God, but to get anything done, you've gotta go through a "Field of Death"(aka, lots of flat ground, making you a sitting duck). It gets my heart pumping like the single play for CoD.
First off, its supposed to be super realistic, and it generally is. If a sniper hits you, and its a near-death shot, you drop your gun. Shell-shock happens a-plenty. There are times where you'll trip, times where you turn the corner and get shot so hard you fall on the ground. Not to mention, rifle-butting someone has never been so enjoyable.
This is a truly incredible mod. While its a few little-changes here and there(the skins all look old and ragged, and make it look like the characters have been through a lot of the war). The maps (especially scbeta) are incredible, with tons of places for everyone.
Heres a summary of just scbeta(just because its one of the most well designed maps I've ever seen).
There are 3 control points. The 2 sides are divided by a huge, deep river(which really, the water is only at ankle level, but its a bit of a fall to get down there). Its a fully-bombed city, and absolute HELL is going on, everywhere. The map needs no background sound-effects- there is enough of a war here. The bombed out spots provide a great haven for snipers, but each haven has a "Back door"- and the whole time, I never saw any "Super-snipers" that could take everyone from one position, or any spots like that. Thats another thing- despite the 30+ spots for snipers to hide, that doesn't make it a sniper map. At most, they have 2-3 spots to look at. And if you move fast as a infantryman, you can go from room to bombed out room, just trying to find your next kill on the way to the control points.
Seriously, I reccommend this mod for anyone who has Call of Duty. It'll get your heart pumping....for sure.

They have a interview at PCOD.
It is so fun I can't describe. Some of the maps are kinda bland, but for the most part this is a great game. 4 of 5 stars.

Why "Worst example of a bad mod" why not "Good example of a good mod" ?
Other than that, I'll be sure to check it out.
Best maps:
HoB_scbeta
HoB_dawnsville(the way it should have been done, just 1 thing wrong- ITS NOT NIGHT!)
HoB_offensive
HoB_railspike
Really, all of them are great. My only one that isn't "Great" is cr44, and its still darned good.
oh, anyhow do people play it like it SHOULD be played?? with like the word TEAMWORK that most people dont understand these days and not "ramboing" (besides snipers of course. ) and i noticed a artillery or whatever explosion with the "dont let a spawncampr get to u" or whatever. but theres no explosion debre (like a black circle thing on the ground like in NS's) is that just a editedpic or non map triggered map explosions dont do that?
