Virus, Worms, Hi-jacked Browsers, Trojans
<div class="IPBDescription">I need all your programs, sites, links</div> Okay, pretty much, I've had enough of windows. I have 260 gigs of ntfs so I cant run linux on this machine, and windows + IE has been giving me crap lately... pretty much i need to assault my computer will all of the protection, security, hole-fixes, virus-scanners, trojan-scanners, and hi-jacked browser scanners that there is.
Any links?
Right now I have:
Ad-aware
Spybot Search & Destroy [doesnt run right now, is screwed or something.. will have to reinstall it later on]
Registry-cleaner [however i dont think this is security-based]
Anything?
Oh, and i may as well bring up my current issue
Windows Internet Explorer will not/can not open new windows unless i physically go ctrl + n, or open another instance through shortcut. right click > new window on links, or clicking on links with new pages, does not work
ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and ive done these pages

but it screwed up my computer more, and didnt fix the problem!!!
i have opera installed, and im willing to cut my losses with IE and move on [even after its entirely screwed up my start menu], the only problem is that i need to import my favourites folder from IE over to opera, or any other browser that supports this... i have wayy too many bookmarked sites/files to get rid of, as well as to do manually
Thanks... =\

<a href='http://www.mozilla.org' target='_blank'>Firefox .08 is your friend. No popups. Ever.</a>
<a href='http://www.trendmicro.com' target='_blank'>A free online virus scanner</a>
You already got the bases covered with adaware and spybot S&D...
meh, one more for the road.
<a href='http://www.totalidea.com' target='_blank'>TweakXP. Nifty tool</a>
I am using firebird right now, and mucking around in tweakxp
the online scan didnt work, couldnt connect when i tried to scan
and its also very annoying, wiht programs like diskeeper etc which needs internet explorer to work
its a microsoft's world <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
If you've started your format, I'd invest in a good firewall as well as a program called Norton Ghost.
The firewall is obvious, but Ghost essentially takes a snapshot of your HDD which you can restore later on if you have a major malfunction. Less time then a format, and you have all your proggies installed. Once your done customizing your system, just ghost it, and down the track if something bad happens just reload the image <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

and cronos i had that idea for ghost just then, if i ever format [right now i got IE working again [as in, diskeeper and cogs and other programs say "yeah okay we'll let you run us now", he] so i cbf formatting] ill definitely use that
but my computer is too screwed right now to bother <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I also use Free Surfer for anti popups
Thi site is useful to test how effective you anti popup programs are, I find it just as annoying to have all the friendly pop ups killed as well
<a href='http://www.popuptest.com/' target='_blank'>http://www.popuptest.com/</a>
From time to time I scan using the trend micro - house call, linkiw already been given.
I also have these as back up:>
For small files you want to check <1mb <a href='http://kaspersky.com/remoteviruschk.html' target='_blank'>http://kaspersky.com/remoteviruschk.html</a>
good free online based virus scan
<a href='http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/' target='_blank'>http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/</a>
as above
