Any Good Mice?

I’m looking to buy a new one today because my old optical mouse is starting to freak out. I just need a good mouse for gaming, most likely optical, NOT wireless, a wheel, and 5 or more buttons. Anyone know anything good I can get that isn’t too expensive?

hm, I came here to say don't get wireless, but it looks like you don't plan on it. I thought no harm could come of going wireless, but the batteries go dead about monthly, and every once in a while it will wig out during a game and I'll stop being able to play properly... :-/

but I think Logitech is a good brand to go with. As for buttons, get 5 if you want, but I've always been happy with 2 + mousewheel...

Logitech OEM 4x Optical mouse, surprisingly rare and as its OEM a pain in the arse to get hold of, best mouse I ever had, ever.
Oh btw Ive tried: several high end logitechs, microsoft budget and intellimice, lots of generic opticals, packard bell mice, many generic ball mice, and the only thing with money sensibile factor on better than a bog standard ps2 ball mouse is that OEM optical, illegal to buy on their own but if you can find em theyd be cheap and insanely good (especially on fast left-right movements)

I recently made a thread like this. I eventually went out and bought myself a Logitech MX510 (the so-called "gaming version" of the $10 cheaper MX 500, which itself is the non-wireless version of the MX700). So far I've been rather happy with it.

I bought it to replace a Logitech Wheel Mouse Optical which was still working about as good as new after 2 1/2 years. If $40-50 is above your desired price range, perhaps the $25 for the simpler wheel mouse is better for you.

What, exactly, is the difference between the 510 and the 500? Besides the color.

I wish they'd make another one and put two more buttons on the bottom of the RIGHT side... you know, just slightly out of your default finger position. A 7 button mouse. How totally badass would that be? They even have room to put another button of the left side, towards the back.

I have no idea why the 510 has 2 years less on the warranty, nor have I tried finding out how to get to the game-specific functions of the 510's drivers.

I'm here to pimp the Logitech MX500, as usual. It's a great value, and a beautiful mouse. The button layout is nice, just DON'T INSTALL MOUSEWARE! Use WinRAR to extract the files from the MouseWare install and use the Windows "Add Hardware" program to install the INF included with the drivers. MouseWare causes a whole lot of problems in Half-Life for me with Mouse 3 through 5, and it's best just not to risk it.

If you're willing to pay a little more, I've also heard that the Boomslang 2100 is a pretty good mouse.
