    Actually, I believe freefall - like daimos - use entities for the phase gates. Cycler, ambient_generic, env_particles_custom, trigger_teleport, etc. That's why you can't re-use the phasegates after you've gone through.

    (note: I haven't played freefall. I know that daimos uses this, and I'm pretty sure freefall does too)

    Yea. I dunno about freefall (i never download "funmaps") but it's definitely like that in daimos. And i wonder why cause you can place "real" phase gates in maps now and its eating only one entity (well, 2 in fact, so you can travel <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> )

    Maybe its cause the mapper didnt want aliens to eat the pg's, but it can be done with some other entities too. Or the map was done before the guy had the new .fgd or equivalent, no idea.

    "Real" pg's can be destroyed, and can only be used by marines. In daimos, it's always weird to see a fade come in, do some damage then take the PG to go back heal at the hive <!--emo&::marine::--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/marine.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='marine.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    You can even set the phase gates to the "alien team" and then they only work for aliens. Btw i did some tests with the buildings, if you're interested it's a good read; <a href='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=62707&view=findpost&p=945619' target='_blank'>Linkage</a>

    Anywho, can I get some feedback on the maps? I still need to get my ground level scanned in...     Dude, try Radiant. I found it just as easy to learn as VHE, but it's more powerfull and allows you to do things that <i>can</i> be done in VHE, but easier IMO.

    Yes, in co_freefall, I use the cycler and trigger_teleport. I didn't add ambient_generic or env_particles_custom though. I guess I could test that out.

    I originally had real PGs there. But, they upset the balance too much:

    1) as aliens can destroy the PGs
    2) I couldn't control PG linking
    3) I couldn't specify health for the PG
    4) I couldn't control one-way with the PG

    If I wanted a two-way PG, I could just add a teleport back.

    So, even though it may look funny for an alien to go through a PG (something that earlier versions of NS... including v3 allowed), a teleport PG offers more control over a normal one.
