<div class="IPBDescription">Much Madness and Mayhem.</div>Okay, I'll stop w/ the M thing.
So yeah, 1 week till <a href='http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=220363' target='_blank'>Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes</a> comes out.
w00t. Don't expect to see me around for awhile after that. :P
In the meantime, I have created this thread so that all can celebrate the wonderful wonderness of Metal Gear, from the very first Metal Gear that came out in 1986, to the second, Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, that one none of you have played because it was never released in the US (or in English), to state of virtual nirvana that is Metal Gear Solid, to the wonderful wonderment that is Metal Gear Ghost Babel (aka Metal Gear Solid when it was renamed in the US) on Gameboy Color, which was a great mix of the new elements from MGS with the classic 2D overhead views of the first two. Lets not talk about that "Other" metal gear game, you know the one with crackpots and blondie Squaresoft style heros. :P
I'm at work now, but later I'll get up screenshots of the older games for you nubs to appreciate, along w/ a story timeline chornology.

I seem to remember that there was also some other crappy action/adventure game on the same disk with a girl as the main character and it had witches and monsters and bisexual vampires. That game sucked.
*edit* I'm waiting for 2 more gamecube games I want to come out, then I can justify buying the console <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo--> *edit*
Ewww, jaggies.

Onew of these days I should realy get my hands on the early MG Games...
As far as I know, no. I never got to beat Metal Gear Solid, I didn't have the second disc. Might be worth a rent, I don't see any replay value in these games.

Nope. Gamecube exclusive. Suck it.
Don't be sad, you get MGS3 exclusive, and even if they port it to other systems a year later you're guranteed to have the only version that's any good. Konami sucks so much at porting. :X
But yes, rent the Twin Snakes. Its a complete remake w/ the same storyline, not just the same game w/ a higher poly count. And since you haven't even beaten it, you need to. It has one of the best endings in any video game ever. Hell its ending is better than most movies I've seen.

"Just what is your name anyway?"
"Dave"
'Nuff said.
I've recently just got done with Silent Hill 3, the PC port. While the menu looks like crap, the game is smooth as hell and looks sexy. Apart from the occasional graphical glitches with Radeon cards, it's a very good port. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

"Heh. Hal and Dave. That's a good one..."
/me goes to fire up mgs (ps1) to make time go faster
My life is now ruined.
Also its not coming out for PS2, just Gamecube.

You brought my hopes up so high, then DOOM brutally shot them down.
Me and my gamecube are going to get closer together in the following weeks, I love you gamecube! <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Well, looks like having a GameCube just got sweeter...besides Prime, SSBM, ED, AC, and the GBAP.
well, at least if you drop it on your foot you dont end up with a hole in the floor
ugh, they filled the box with <b>lead</b> of all things! the heaviest nonradioactive but yet somewhat stable element
and the gc is purple
edit: cwag, you got a dead link in your sig methinks

Well if you search "Twin Snakes" at gamestop.com, then it comes up for GC and PS2.....maybe its a messup.
Although I love MGS, I wont buy a GC until they are like 20 bucks.
P.S. He didn't have a mullet in the original, but did you notice how much more **** he kicked in MGS 2? (all those metal gears...)
It was becuase of the Mullet....
Time to find all the Cube RE games on Ebay as well....... ho hum.
Second off, why is it that everyone hates Gamecube? I love it.
Soul Calibur 2 (with no frame lag or huge **** controller or that **** dude from Spawn)
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
Metroid Prime
Viewtiful Joe
Mario: Sunshine
Gameboy Advance Player
Eternal Darkness
MGS1
A lot of other games I can't get off the top of my head.
PS2 has...
MGS2 (was really short, even if you coun't that part with that alien guy)
Devil May Cry
Onimusha
Zone of the Enders 2
And, for XBox...
Halo
GTA
Ninja Gaiden
Dead or Alive 3 (worth its weight if you don't have 2)
Best version of NFS: Underground
Gunvalkyrie
(But don't forget the future: Half-Life 2 and Doom III are expected to have ports to XBox, which is good for those of us without $5 million graphics cards, and there's Halo 2)
Eh... What was I trying to say again?
Hmm..
I too did a search, and here are the <a href='http://www.gamestop.com/search.asp?sortby=title&searchtype=quicksearch&searchcount=12&keyword=twin+snakes&platform=0&find.x=24&find.y=9' target='_blank'>Search Results</a>
For some reason they have the strategy guide listed under the ps2 section, but no actual game. So I guess I can kinda see where you got mixed up, however it does say "omg strageities guide" and its only $15, so its not like its an easy mistake to make. :P
Because people don't like Multiplayer games!
