Ff Xi Problems...

ok... i bought final fantacy 11 a day or two ago, and i installed everythin like i should. but when i tried to create a character it played the music and did the *tink* thing when you go over the options, but it was just a black screen... i dont know about you guys but i cant create a very good character when i cant see what im creating... i tried just clickin when i heard a tink but then it did the *buh buh* thing, if that makes any sense... anyone who has played games similar to this, has played the game, or has the game... please, help me out here. im payin monthly for this damn game! and i dont plan to cancel! what should i do??? <!--emo&???--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/confused.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='confused.gif' /><!--endemo-->

you would get even more help if you tried the FFXI Forums instead of the NS Forums...

however, general soloutions to problems like this:

1) Update vid card drivers

2) Run the config utility and set all of your video options to as LOW as they will go

3) Try again.

4) if you can see stuff you now tweak the vid settings till you figgure out the culprit.

I think the culprit is this(I had the same problem):

Go to Start->PlayOnline->Final Fantasy XI->Final Fantasy XI Config

Go to the "Misc." tab, and make sure the tab for "Simplified Character Creation Visuals" is turned off.

This is a feature that I think is only in the PS2 version.
