(rr.org shot)
Merkaba, I simply can not get over how amazing the lighting in your most recent shot at rr.org is. That pipe looks hot! Would that be a custom texture or red lighting? Regardless, it looks awesome. The subtle yellow and red on the sides is just inspiring.

You've said recently that you feel a bit discouraged seeing all these other pictures of map shots here on the forums, but I can assure you that you've got nothing to worry about. This level is going to shock people when they see it.

I can't get over it, that shot is breathtaking. Great work.

Agreed. What's funny is, I'm privy to the most "I feel discouraged by X's work" and it's completely circular. A feels discouraged by B, B feels discouraged by C, C feels discouraged by A. It's quite hilarious actually.

Just keep learning and keep working!

cept me.... I just started mapping this week, so i'm D and im discouraged by A B and C. Then A B and C point their fingers and laugh at me as I say, "check out my leet ramp leading to, uh, nowhere?" lol

Ahh, that little power box thing (or elephant, or whatever you decided it is ) fit in quite nicely there. I was wondering when that would pop up.

Maybe somewhere else, but not in this community, Trane.

Instead A, B, and C will give you some great constructive criticism, and send you off on your merry way to worldcraft nirvana... or something. And then we will tell you to add more contrast.

I liked the arcing electric in the background of that pic.

I am often astonished by the breathtaking beauty of NS screenshots, but rarely discoraged.

To be D on your first map can be daunting, we've all been there.

Merk, you wanna come do the lighting on our map? We just can't seem to get it right.

hehe why thankyou, I've always had people comment on my lighting. It's kind of bizarre, actually. I don't put a whole lot of thought into my lighting except some 'it should be lighter here, a bit different colouring here,', etc...

What's bizarre is that my dad is actually a veteran Lighting Director. He's worked on lots of UK programs like Lovejoy, Last of the Summer Wine, Headless, Dr.Who, All creatures great and small, Dads Army...and most recently he's been working a lot on Casualty. But he's never actually taught me anything about lighting, so I guess I might have inherited the 'touch' or something. Quite bizarre...

Shouldn't that be 'encouraged' rather than 'discouraged' ? I find people who nail something really well encourage me !

Oh, I understand what you mean by the pipe looking hot, now...

That's an unintentional sideeffect. The pipe goes under the girders and theres two red lights down there, so I suspect the red light is creeping along the pipe. I never intended it to look as though it was heated up
