<div class="IPBDescription">what can we do??</div> okay, my dad ordered a $350 digital camera on ebay.
3 months since he won the auction, the camera has not arrived.
he's emailed the seller about 20 times; the first two recieved responses, but after that, nothing.
the guy still has our $350, but we don't have our camera.
that's theft, isn't it?

what can we do to pin this guy and get our money back/get our camera??

If you haven't yet, email the authorities at Ebay, and I assume there are. Also, I am sure Ebay will give you his phone number, address, and full name, if you need that in the long run.

the short answer is, dont get your hopes up, but dont let the little ****er get away with it. it happens way too much, and it's pretty much ebay's fault for not having sufficient effective safetyguards for this sort of thing

Well, you definitely shouldn't have waited three months.

Here's an FAQ on eBay to help you out. However, it looks like you waited too long to do anything. You've probably lost your money.

    <a href='http://www.ebay.com/help/confidence/isgw-fraud-protection.html' target='_blank'>http://www.ebay.com/help/confidence/isgw-f...protection.html</a>

Man... three months. Why in the world did you wait so long?!

Privacy laws would prevent them from doing that.

this sounds real bad, did the guy have a terrible seller rating? or is he good rated and you got ripped off anyway? if you paid through paypal, aren't they insured? I'm not sure about auction insurance in general but it's something to keep in mind...

how can people get away with this anyway? you steal from a store, you go to jail; you steal from e-bay users, it's just tough luck?

That is exactly why you never buy from ebay. Just go to a store and order from an online site <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

uh, ebay would refund your money and fine the seller if he was found to ahve stolen from you.

definitely shoulda asked ebay about it sooner, and it may not be too late. theres a reason they have all of the transactions go through them and they say repeatedly "do not make transactions outside of the ebay forms, because we cannot help then if you get ripped off"

ebay is perfectly safe, dont listen to that mullethead.

Yeah, all transactions are insured I'm pretty sure. They wouldn't give out personal information of the guy, but they'd reimburse you the lost funds. Three months is a long time to wait though.

How did you pay for it? I believe that, if you paid via credit card (paypal, etc), you can reverse the charges within a certian time period, which in effect. Simply call your credit card company, and tell them you never recieved the product.

why thge hell di u w8 3 months?
i wouldve talked to ebay after at most 2 weeks...
sorry to say it mate but looks like you've lost your money.

I doubt ebay can give you the guy's details, but they CAN pass them on to the authorities and let them deal with it since, as you said, this is clearly theft.

Again though, why wait 3 months?

Seriously though, what was his seller rating? Has he had complaints like this in the past? Seriously though, before I even buy a $100 dollar item from somone I check all their negative feedback to see if it was resolved etc. Also NEVER buy from anybody with under 70%, and that's pushing it.
