<div class="IPBDescription">yea, I looked no tutorial =(</div> Well I have looked at all the webbed topics, I have downloaded valve hammer editor, blah blah and all the other stuff needed. But now I am in the program and I'm lost.. There are tutorials on how to setup the program but no tutorials on how to actually get started, even some help with making a room and giving it textures would be helpfull.

click on the 'block' on the left side. click-drag your cursor over the grid. right-click on it and say 'create object'.... congrats... you just made a wall/floor/ceiling

Although many people do not post how-to's on using Hammer and starting a map, the most basic steps and such can be found in the hammer help file. Its simple and explanatory, as opposed to a crude 'click on cube' 'click on this', it'll explain the why's and the where's.

everyone also has their own favorites on mapping tutorials, i like www.vlatitude.com... most come with sample maps.... so does

I normally suggest <a href='http://www.planethalflife.com/schrade/theproject/tutorials/1/setup.htm' target='_blank'>The Project.</a> This tutorial walks you through Hammer setup and the creation of a small arena map. It has useful references for different texture types and a decent description of the tool set.
Check the pull down at the top of the page for the info you want.
