Gameplay issues

<div class="IPBDescription">Hey i'm new but thats ok...</div>Alright first off nice looking mod.

But there's one thing, you say that there's gonna be all this teamplay yada yada yada. But how will it actually work on pubs? To me it seems that this mod is gonna need to be played with people that know each other. (i.e. in a clan)
And what about the commander and if he doesn't do his job? I know you guys talked about kicking him but that probably isn't going to be enough. I don't think pubbers and going to play the game the way it has been designed... I just don't imagine people that don't know each other getting good teamplay going. Now granted its a really good idea for a mod but then you gotta think about the people that are actually going to be playing it. All I want to disccuss how you plan on getting these teamplay ideas enforced etc.

    everything doesnt go around clans, it mostly goes around players that know how to cover/listen/agree/works together, but you dont find many players like that, mostly they go off bythemselfs thinking there invinisable, ofcourse, thats what i think  <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

    The great thing about ns is that it will slap[ your naughty  hand if you dotn play right. Each side encourages the gameplay designed for it's type. As has been said before is previous posts, 1 marine versus one alien WILL lose. Marines will stick together even of it's just for the reason of savign their own skin. The aliens are made for the classic deathmatch style of play, so the ycan be ignored as far as gameplay issues go. As for the issue of bad commanders, I still have a few worries but I trust flayra to do the right thing. Besides, someone will take charge to kep thir squad alive if their commander is neglectful, and if not, they should be playing as aliens. However, as has been seen in movies, there are always a few characters who run off bravely and viciously toward the enemy only to be shot or sliced to pieces. The gameplay's little factors like player speed and overwatch alogn with at least one commander worthy player per sever(You know that iwth a following like this, there will be) should mix well. Dotn worry too much.

    I think the reason alot mods crash or lack fun is beacuse people dont want to or are afriad to talk with each other. I myself, when i first enter a game, ask for a status report on my team and how they are doing so i have an idea of what i should do. Alot of the time, it is met by silence as it seems nobody can use their keybaord which can end up causing us to lose. But if i do find at least one person that talks back, it makes the game a blast to play. So i am looking forward to this since it will FORCE people to use thoses cool little things like teamwork and talking(GASP&#33<!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    I wouldn't really worry about peple not playing properly.  If you look on these baords and in the IRC room, anyone and everyone who uses them is a good NS fan who will definalty play well.

    Getting NS to work on pubs may be hard.  We have ideas about how to encourage teamplay, but when it all comes down to it, we don't know if it will work.  I am confident that we'll be able to handle any situation that comes up, and also that even if there isn't a great commander for every game, that there will be moments of brilliant teamplay and memorable games that will make it all worth it.  I'm definitely not going to throw my hands up and not try, just because people abuse each other online.  I'd rather try and fail then not try!

    what if a lamer gets to the command console and screws up gameplay ? shouldnt there be like a voting if they dont like their new commander? even that idea can be abused by evil ppl working together :/

    Hmm...the easiler voice access will help and the "waiting mode (can't remember real name)."  I don't talk much because I'm always worried I'll get blow away typing.

    i dont think that teamplay organization will be as much of a problem... since its key that the marines use it to win, someone will probably take the time to type the status or battle plan...
    also, i dont know about the rest of you, but since ive gotten a mic for dod2 (and found groups of ppl with mics that sounded less like chipmunks than others) ive had some very rewarding teamplay and coordinated battles using mics that havent slowed us down at all.
    im very much hoping most marine players have good mics, especially the commander

    Great point Wurm. I find that if I go on a server and no one is doing teamplay in DoD, all I have to do is start talking on the mike a little, offering kudos were needed, defensive holes that are opening up, save a guy or two from grenades, etc. Before you know it, a bunch of people are talking, getting organized, and the game gets about 10 times better.

    I keep talking instead of playing, and btw i don't use my mic cuz it's  build in my monitor and i fear people don't understand me if i use it, well they didn't on the one server i tried, maybe i should try again on another one.
