Retiring From Competitive Ns

If don't know me/care don't bother.
I am retiring from competitive NS. There are several reasons for me doing this, so as the topic description if you do not know me or care stop reading this now.

For those of you who do know me, I am FireWater, the crazy, arrogant, but smart and talented NS player who has extensive knowledge of the game and played for one of the greatest teams of all time, sYn. Now you may be asking, if he thinks he's so great, why is he retiring? The answer is three fold. A)My internet connection at school is inconsistent, there are times where I lag spike atleast 20 times in a game, other times I don't, the problem is I cannot predict when the spiking occurs or doesn't occur. B)I honestly do not have the time anymore. I haven't played a match in about a month. Anyone who knows anything about competitive gaming knows that if you dont practice, you will get stomped, which leads me to letter C)I'm no where near as good as I used to be. I just can't play as good as I used to. I tried to figure it out, but its more based on a lack of motivation. I lost that fire in me to play, which makes me a liability in a match. I don't know what caused it, but either way my skills are diminished. I made an estimate of how much time it would take for me to get back to a standard that I once used to play at, and it would definately take way too long. I enjoy NS, just not competively anymore.

I also have an apology to make to #cri. Even though I do think Yumosis cheated, the way I expressed that wasn't productive or effective. I apologize to critical for giving him a really hard time about what went on.

Instead of competing I would like to take another role in the NS community. People complain about the lack of teams, because they are afraid of getting stomped by veteran teams. This is a valid concern so what I propose to do is review people's demos and critique them so that they can see what mistakes to correct down the road. This invitation is open to all teams, however I dont expect any invite teams to take me up on it, so its geared towards newer developing teams. I use to do this in 1.04 and it seemed to help a lot of people get a better grasp of the nature of NS.

I wish good luck to those who are new in competition, and I wish the older team good luck in the ATI tournament.

Peace,

PS. About my offer feel free to pm Me on IRC or AIM me at Juan311bond

Bizarrely FireWater, I think you've both been over critical (I don't find you that arrogant ) and self congratulatory (no-one should be able to praise themselves too much) in the same sentence.

I'm lost as to why this provoked a Gen.Disc post, but it's sad to lose any of the good players, especially any of those from early on in NS.

If you are looking for critique, you could do a lot worse than FW, but beware, the controversy these guys kicked up is still remembered by a lot of the community.

FireWater, you should consider doing more direct forms of training. I think you would find it pretty gratifying to take people under your wing and tutor them. Anyway that seems like the right step from where you are at right now. Usually when people hit their peak at something and quit the battlefield of sorts, they train someone to take their place.

And that doesn't just apply to clans or fighting, all great masters have at least one protege.

Though I see you are taking some steps toward this direction, you could take it much further I think.

    Byebye Firewater

If you want to retire from competitive NS though, remember to help newbies in the process of retiring from NS, and maybe write a guide and post it on GameFAQs.

Firewater, I know what you mean to be honest.

I kind of keep getting worse, considering the amount of time I have given to this game. At my peak, I was better than mosis himself, but now, bleh. It is not the time that I have given to this game has diminished, because I still put in several hours daily scrimming, pubbing or pugging. I put in time for cs and some other games too.

I always loved to create online drama with you. Hope you find a protege soon, John.

    Hugs and kisses.

    Btw pneumaticrab owned this :>

Only 1 of the "top ten" or whatever teams is fairly mature, and like not out to cause drama and just win win win....so good luck. Please make another team that is "e-cool".

Good luck in life, Firewater. You said some bad things about the clan I'm in, but I can put that behind me. I hope you do well in whatever you choose to do.
