Pre 1.0

Hey, is i possible for me to look at the pre 1.0 change logs? Or is there any site dedicated to NS pre 1.0. I think it would be quite interesting to see some of the original designs and such from 'old' ns.

Theres a few old screenshots floating around somewhere, my suggestion would be too look back at the forums, they are probably the biggest record of ns history.

I did, but it seems pre 1.0 was a complete secret. They didn't even tell us the names of the lifeforms.

There used to be a series of pre-1.0 journals in readyroom.org, but it's down now. It even showed a cool-looking old Hera.

IIRC the "Kharaa" didn't exist until closer than a week up to release.

Go to the homepage (news section). Scroll down to the bottom and it says:

    (read <a href='http://www.natural-selection.org/news_archive.html' target='_blank'>archived news</a> here)

Thanks for that! But, i also want change logs, the oens we never got to see. I think it would give us a better understanding of how NS truely developed.

How about releasing a really old version of NS (pre 1.0 that still had the Nuke in it) just for the people around now to have a go on it and see what it was like before it went public.

Yes! That is very nice, but i was more looking for a development stage While that was nice to read, i was looking for a ermm NSTR1 (was it called?) to 1.0 changelog. I was hoping maybe a beta tester, or a dev would have them hidden away somewhere.

This is still there, one of the major features. Those steam looking things you find in maps? Ya, particle system.

Extensive taunts, breathing and hissing for aliens

Uhm... chuckle? The need healing sound is there.

Slight jingling of bullets when marines walk, background breathing
    Simulate background ambient noises programmatically
    Extensive hand gestures for marines
Gun sounds and screams are heard through trebly radio when teammate isn’t close by

Some of those taken out probably because Flayra wanted to keep the game PG13. Hell, I probably wouldn't be playing NS if there were background screams or other scary stuff :X>

got you all beat. I have an NS "gameplay" video dated november 7th 2001. It demonstrates the in game menu, as seen through the eyes of an alien, which was at this point, gordon freemen with the bee gun. The command interface, and the command chair, which was a large tower with a ladder, and a console at the top. It also has in game particle editing which i thought looked kind of cool.

Ok, I just browsed around my HD and found a small folder where i used to collect all kinds of ns related stuff i found on the forums before 1.0 was released.
To my knowledge there were only 4 Changelogs released to the public . (Release Candidate 8 , 9 , 9A and 10) I collected all those and wrapped them together in a small html file.
In addition to that i copied the stuff that was released immediately after the NDA ( non-disclosure agency) was lifted and the PTs were able to say whatever they want.
<i> ( If someone still knows who wrote that down, i would be pleased to give the author credit)</i>

You can find all that stuff here :
    <a href='http://home.arcor.de/leveldesigner/nostalgia.html' target='_blank'>http://home.arcor.de/leveldesigner/nostalgia.html</a>
Notice there have been made some last-minute final changes which havn't been publically announced. Maybe a PT would be nice enough to search the PT forum to find all the other RC Changelogs.

If there is someone interested in reading all the Frontline Stories (all kinds of suspense and action packed stories, written by such famous PTs such as Humbaba, Fam or Coil <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->) I still have them. (I think I'll just put them up in a minute, or tomorrow)
