<div class="IPBDescription">comments/criticisms/etc</div> Here's Drake's welder from the Concept thread. My first HL model, so any/all comments are quite welcome. Done in MAX by the way. I don't particularly like the grip, I had a better one but it alone was almost a thousand polys. Oh, and the thingy on the barrel in the concept, I haven't added it yet because quite frankly I haven't the faintest idea what it is or what I could make it.

very nice for a first model, just smooth it out so it dont look so boxy and its perfect

I completely agree it's too boxy, I'll work on that bit.

it's a heat/glare sheild....

just a chunk of tinted plastic... (unbreakable, high temp, scratch resistant.. all sortsa nifty features on plastic today)


anyway, looking good.. don't forget, 2 extrudes on the rounded parts... not just one.

I say hold off on the smoothing it out untill you try the model out with a texture. If you have a good enough texture then you're gonna save on the pollys... and that means smooooother sailing

now that I look at it. In the concept stage you had a screen on there. I'm assuming it's to see what you are welding. Very good idea since the rines aren't wearing heavy tinted shades. Would be cool to add to the model

Version 2:

Redid the handle completely, smoothing groups included now. 4 groups in total (trigger, front stock-like thing, grip, back of handle). If possible, I want to use the DoD transparency dlls on the screen for the actual model, so it's transparent/translucent.
