a.k.a. Operation meatshield
It seems to me that teams with a lot of onii win pretty quickly. even more so than teams with veteran skulks.

why? because they take so many bullets to kill. i think thats the only reason. hmgs/shotty/gls have to spend more time reloading and being oblivous to skulks because there is a huge 900000 hp thing rampaging in the base.

in my opinion, the hitpoints difference is the only advantage that an onos has over a fade. focus gore is way too slow, and if they have 0 armor (as most people do with resupply) swipe is just as good.

I would say that a team needs 2 onos to win. i know you can win with 6 gorges, but i mean win in a reasonable and organized fashion, something you could replicate. At the very least it makes it a whole lot easier.

the problem is that not many people go onos because of the 3 upgrade deal.

anyone agree/disagree, have a better idea?

this is in the alien forum, so now i don't have to worry about the silenced fade destroying my base in 3 seconds theory that i get all the time.

i find fades getting more kills, but meh onos is probably more decisive in taking down cc

As usual, it's the mix of life forms that really kicks the 'rine ****. But 1 or 2 onos is essential if you ask me. When a few heavies and their LA friends start marauding around the map, people start sweating wondering where their onos is. A few fades will help too, but it's just not the same as that giant red wall of pain.

As a skulk I love letting the onos go in and absorb all the bullets and then attack the marines when they're distracted. Onos+umbra=friggin hard to kill.

As a marine I shoot the skulks first, the less mouths biting the better.

Hardly. Marines just need to take out those ugly, little LMG's to make oni run. If things get desperate, they can even resort to their pistols. Then, if when; oni start queuing to spawn.

But then again, if you'll notice when alot of Onos start to appear, more than one person on your team has a GL. I think people are starting to save levels, and see what the marines pick as their final weapon. If half of the marines have at least level 2 HMGs going onos isn't the best choice. But if they have gls instead... . Free lunch. I usually go focus fade if there are alot of HMGs showing up. Alot easier to instantly close the distance and swipe them twice, than to lumber in really slow and lose over half of your health before you get to him.

yes, imagine all the whining that would ensue too.

and imagine if combat devour time was as long as the NS devour time.
