<div class="IPBDescription">Really specific audience.</div> Alright, for all of you out there with Warcraft 3 with the Frozen Throne expansion, I have a question. Have any of you played the "Lord of the Rings: Ring Wars" custom map? I don't know why, but its got a strange hold on me.
I'll break it down really quick: Two 6 player teams, Free Peoples consisting of Gondor, Rohan, Elves, Fellowship of the Ring, The Shire/Fangorn Forest and the Dwarves. Forces of Sauron are Isengard, Moria/Khazad-Dum, the Easterlings, the Haradrim, the Nazgul, and Mordor itself.
You've got buildings representing certain places like Orthanc, Minas Tirith, Edoras, Barad-Dur etc. For each of these buildings(They all have 5000 health/20 armor, in case you're wondering which is which), units spawn in two minute intervals. You start with 5000 gold, and with that you start construction of a castle/evil pit at one of said buildings. When it's done, the forces you spawn increase in number/power. You also get the 5000 gold back to build again.
Basically, it boils down to a "You control the fate of Middle-Earth" scenario. If Frodo dies, one thing always happens, everyone on Good screams at the Fellowship player. He also drops the One Ring, which (unrealistically) anyone can pick up with no negative consequences. If an evil hero picks it up and brings it back to Barad-Dur, guess who comes back? Sauron, the dark lord himself! Also, Saruman and Gollum "transform" when they come to possess the ring and their respective nations unally from everyone.
Once Frodo reaches level 6, he can attempt to drop the ring into Mount Doom, which instantly eliminates the Nazgul and Mordor players. Good stuff, if he can pull it off.
Anyway, like I said, I find it really enticing, moreso than any retail games I own, and it's only a custom map for WC3. So does anyone else play it or at least have chanced upon it once?
