Yep, aliens can build in water but marines can't.

Aliens can build just about anywhere. Marines can only build structures on flat, hard ground.

Building a structure in lava or another trigger_hurt will kill it.

H4x!

Seriously though, this helps the aliens retain a bit of control over their hive areas, since they usually have irregular ground, which works well... I assume.

I remember there once was a problem with aliens building their structures inside marine ones. One TFTFL stories talks about building offensive chambers inside phase gates, effectivly trapping any marine that teleported there inside the offensive chamber as they were slowly spiked to death... that would be a hoot to watch as a commander.

::SWEET!::

"What's sweet commander?"

::Uhhh, nothing. Hurry up and use that phase gate before Bilko respawns...::

Yup. Though that was more of a case of the phase gate being non-solid, when the rest weren't.

There have been one or two games where we PTs decide to test wacky things, and make great staircases of buildings (you have to do very very very odd things when playtesting), one right on top of another.

I have some screenshots of them (buried, deep within my computer) that I may dig out some day.

Thats not odd. Me and my friends build SG towers all the time. The highest we got was 5 sgs on top of eachother. We could have had more if we had more people and an admin (n00bs came in and destroyed them all, admin could have locked server).

Five? That's all? I pity you. Plus our buildings are prettier.

If you want a real stack, remember: Viaduct Hive in ns_nothing. A catwalk so far off the ground that only skulks, lerks, jetpacks, and a lucky blinking fade could ever hope to get up there. It's at least a 25 building stack from ground to where you are.

Wait, so is Marine build area only on a flat alotted area (IE Warcraft 3's undead)? If they can only build in a ceratin area, how big is it?
• MoleculorMoleculor Namer-of-Bob Join Date: 2002-01-24 Member: 9Members
As big as a Marine building.
• GwahirGwahir Join Date: 2002-04-24 Member: 513Members, Constellation
they mean any area that is flat and large enough to accomodate the building
