Why Do I Build So Fast?

Whenever i join a side, alone, the "beeper" starts without anyone on the other side. everything that took time to upgrade, evolve can be done in a few seconds. im trying to teach my friend how to play NS but is confused because of this so any help?

    Type these commands in the console:

    <b>sv_cheats 1
    slowresearch</b>

    Now everything will upgrade at normal speed. I'm not sure how to slow down the building time of structures though, sorry.

    or you should be able to just type in

    sv_cheats 0

    and it will all turn off (fast build speed/research/evlolve is all from bigdig)

    actualy If I remember correctly it does.

    I think it was put in to test research time (s oyuo could still have stupidly fast build in, but research times would be normal <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    On a random note with sv_cheats 1 bigdig is things build themselves, and hightech is research happens as stupidly fast as building

    I think bigdig does the research also... not sure (I havn't gone bug hunting in a long time so I forgot my cheats <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)

    A game cannot be started alone without using "sv_cheats 1". if sv_cheats is 0 there allways has to be an opponent for the count down to start.

    The fast building and stuff is there to help map makers.
