• TacOneTacOne Join Date: 2002-11-05 Member: 7070Members
Well, If he doesn't like it, I'll take it away.
But I felt it was a shame to have such a magnifigent shotgun without syncronised animations.

at the end of the day, it is a fix, doesnt that mean its better and brig would apreciated it i think if he was here?!

and, wth i cant open the zip and what are the other files about??
• TacOneTacOne Join Date: 2002-11-05 Member: 7070Members
You have to dowload all the files and open the .zip.
Split archives suck, but my server can't take large enough files for some reason.

And if the SGs reload time is changed again, these files will automatically become void.

Brig left because of people hacking his models ...

what a lack of respect

You're talking about the guy like he's some holy man. He made some frickin' models, and if he didn't want them reskinned, re-animated or 'hacked' then he should never have posted them on a public forum for the public to download. He does not have any copyrights, nor is there any rule that says you can't edit something up for free download on the internet.

IF someone had posted his "for my helpers only" models, or something, thats wrong, but these are public domain and as such can be edited, changed, fixed and re-released by anybody. Otherwise, the NS team would have their panties in a twist every time you re-colored or re-skinned the onos to make it look like a cow or a bull or summat.

Simple as that.

1) He does have copyrights.

2) You can modify crap, you just can't release it.

But that said,

3) Brig cries like a girl. Really, I've had my mod for Tribes stolen and ripped off in about 30 other mods, it **** me off, not because it was out, but because I never got any credit for it.

Which is why, who cares? He wasn't a nice guy. He was a total ***hole. Every model he released was full of cynicism and sarcasm. "Waah, I asked for testers and only two people showed up, take it you ingrates." Despite all the praise and the number of people that use his models: "Why do I do this you people are ungrateful and selfish." Seriously, he's in the navy, but has a pissy fit when someone makes his models black. This is so astronomically stupid, selfish, and menial, it completely blows me away.

I'm making an NS map. I know it's probably going to suck. Will I cry when someone says it sucks? No. Because I enjoy mapping. Brig obviously didn't like modeling, he didn't like skinning, he didn't like animating, and as far as I can tell, he doesn't like NS, nor the community.

However, on another note, I heard from Daza400 that he left because he was called into active duty.

Unfortunatly such a good re-animation thread is going to get locke,d but first let me say:

I did not mean to initatate this big anti-wolf thing. He did good work, and yeah, his attitude kind of stunk, however my point was, if you release it on the net, for free, expect it to be edited, fixed, changed, re-skinned, re-worked and re-released. This is not a shot at brig, its a realistic interpretation of some posts made about all folks who release skins, models, sounds, animations, maps, ect on the net.

I have the highest respect for Brigadier. My only hope was that he wouldn't be so seneitive. I don't blame him however as it has been pointed out that many people have stolen his models.

its a fix of one of his models dont you people see that as an improvement?

Now, may discussions about BrigadierWolf please be moved somewhere else?

They are animations. Screenshots won't do any good. Animated gifs might, but that's a chore to make.
• TacOneTacOne Join Date: 2002-11-05 Member: 7070Members
It's basically BrigadierWolf's shotgun with the reload animation speeded up a little to match the actual reload.
Which means this model inserts eight shells into an empty magazine instead of six.
• DillinjaDillinja Join Date: 2003-09-04 Member: 20563Members
woah guys calm down i was only giving the info that the author wont like that geez.
• KleptoKlepto Join Date: 2002-12-15 Member: 10864Members
So that file is just a fix? You need the original first for it to work?
• ShazbotShazbot Join Date: 2003-03-05 Member: 14328Members
It's the v models, which means the models you see when you're using the gun. Also, this is the old version of his shotgun from the looks of it, not his reskinned version, which I think is better. This is a fix, I don't see why he would get mad about it...

Godamnit just cuz brig left dosen't give you the right to steal it

if you want one of his reskins on the new version of this shotgun, just extract the images from his other model(s) and recompile with the new skin. they both use the same mesh, you know...

(it applies to v, w, and p, btw)

Look im gona settle this once and for all. If he left for that reason he deserves to stay gone. If a man cant take altering models he dosnt deserve to be here. If someone alters his stuff and makes it better in the publics eyes but he throws a fit hes the big babby and we did nothing wrong. So stop defending a man that throws a hissy fit every time someone improves on his models for the good of the comunity, thank you.

*BACK TO THE MODEL* Seems alot better now, thanks

What an artist "feels" doesn't matter unless you're talking about morals.

If someone wants to modify these models, ie public pieces of art, they can. If they want to distribute it, they can. Just about the only thing they can't legally do is say it's their own and sell it for profit.

Someone could release a pack of his models with all goatse skins, and surprise surprise, there's nothing anyone could do about it. Individuals could get angry (say things, ban from private forums, etc), but that's the long and short of it.

Also note that trying to quote things like the DMCA and such when concerning issues on as small a scale as this will just get you laughed at.

If someone doesn't want their work modified, they just don't give it out to people who would modify it. The end.

First of all, please do not consider this a flame or attack at anyone.

[Rant]
Wolf said that he did not want anyone modifying his work. Surely if you said something like that you'd get annoyed if someone broke your request? People did not respect his wishes and this caused him to leave. Please stop calling wolf a cry baby or whatever because it was his request for people to not modify his models. He released them on that condition. However no-one listened.
[/Rant]

Now lets wait for the lock...

I've said many times that intellectual property is a fleeting thing on the Internet. Communities like the NS modeling community survive because of one thing: respect for one another. Yes, it's extremely easy to copy someone else's work and edit it to suit your liking. That doesn't make it ok. The ease with which it can be done makes it all the more important that you respect the creators by respecting the *gift* they give you with each released model.

The NS forums have a firm policy against model theft -- namely, if you don't have the original author's permission to use something, you shouldn't be using it. Brig made it pretty clear that he didn't want his files modified and redistributed, and that's enough for me.

And by the way, he *does* have the copyright on his work. If he wanted to, he'd have every right to sue people who didn't respect his requests.
