About System Memory...
Basically, how do I know what kind of memory (type AND speed) I have?

When I customized my computer 2 years ago I couldn't remember what kind of memory I picked, and now I want to throw in another stick of 256MB or 512MB (mostly because I've been playing games that require a lot of it, and windows eats up about 150MB of my current 512MB...). So yesh, help appreciated.

right click my computer -> properties.

should tell you how much down the bottom

or alternatively, go to start -> programs - > accessories -> system tools - > system info

on the main window which pops up look for "Total physiical memory"

I know how much, I just need to know what type and speed it is (DDR 4200, stuff like that).

do a google search on a program called CPU-Z. Its a system monitoring utility. It has a memory tab that shows you how much, what speed, what brand (if any) and memory timings.

Failing that open the case up and look at the stick of memory itself, it should have a lable on in.

make sure that the memory you get matches up as perfectly as possible. Having everything the same (size excluded) will greatly increase the overall performance.
