<div class="IPBDescription">pics for you :)</div> well after hours of having fun in the secret room with many ppl, im posting 2 pics for you, does anyone know what this actually says?
another pic, more of a funny one <!--emo&;)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/wink.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='wink.gif' /><!--endemo-->
It looks like it's from the Lord of the Rings books, the appendix at the back of the Return of the King will no doubt have an alphabet that you can use the translate it.
It definitly looks like Cirth (LOTR dwarven language), but the characters are hard to decypher. Some of them don't even look like Cirith at all (the second last character in partcular). It doesn't seem to translate into english... and what little I could decrypt didn't look much like quenya (old elvish), or sindarian (new elvish) either.
Ah well, its late and my head is foggy. Maybe i'll look at it again tomorrow. <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

There are numerous threads about secret rooms, nearly all of them were locked.
There are numerous threads about this specific secret room, several were locked, one was still on the second page when I checked.
It's an unwritten rule to *not* reveal map secrets/easter eggs on these boards, apparantly. Can't say I agree with that rule, but that's just the way it is.
So, look in the other threads, there were more than enough links in there to runic scripts so you can figure it out yourself.

He's only showing pictures. It's not like he's revealing how to get there. All he said was the map it was on thats it. And besides those pictures aren't going to reveal any general location or a specific one at that. That secret room could be ANYWHERE on the map. Like Talesin said himself, not all the secret rooms are in the ready room, some are actually in the map.
It is norse runes. Unless Tolkien used norse runes in his own languages.
<i>Edit:</i> On closer inspection, it's actually the medieval version of norse runes. Not too surprising, given that the old runes only had 16 "letters" and it would be problematic to write anything meaningful with those.
PM me for translation. Realised people might not be happy if I post it here.

Did I mention your names anywhere? No. What I said is that there are people who might not want to read a thread such as this one, and then find out that the secret/easter egg is being spoilt for them unexpectedly.
/me steps out of this argument because it's pointless and simply irrelevant
Nah, it looks like l337 to me. <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo-->

*Shrugs* Those runes are the new norse runic alphabet however. What I said (or intended to say) was that Tolkien, if those were from Middle-Earth, only used norse runes. I translated it myself and apart from a few spelling issues and the fact that the rune for C was confused with an alternate rune for S (quite alike, only a vertical line extra in the S), it worked out quite nicely.
I remember a post about discussion of maps with secret rooms with a few hints but nothing that would totally give them away. Anyways, NemesisZero repilied after everyone had their chance to flame, say that the talk of which maps have secretrooms was okay, since no true info was given away at all.

I searched the forums but could not find this info, and since you guys are talking about secret rooms...:
in NS_Mcguffin, in the secret room, was that "cutscene" suposed to be an endgamer? I mean, the one were the race who created both humans and kharaa shows up to anounce the end of their "experiment"? Because if they had really had choose who was "worth of harvesting" (I guess it is harvest, can't remember), the round should be over and the "choosen" team should win. But no, the round keeps going on! Given the difficulty to reach the room (welding doors, jetpacks/ceiling walk) and the fact that it is right outside a hive room (making it harder to weld the secret door) it should/could be a (very cool) way to end the round.
Wich leads to another question: why only the marines have acess to it? Or there is another way that only the kharaa can use as well? I "ghosted" the entire map but did not find it <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->
