If anyone will remember with me, some 3 months ago is when the "Whens it gonna be done?" threads began appearing thick as pea soup.... and the resaults were constant flaming/ bickering. Yet, it seems (this week especially) that with every "Release date?" Thread thats popped up, we've gotten less violent, more timid. For example, the most recent one I saw, not ONE person flamed the guy asking... in fact, we all WARNED him that others would flame him, and it had to be locked because everyone was doing that- tellign him to avoid the flamers. It seems in that 3 month period of time, we've become quite the mature community. Yeah its a statement thread really, feel free to comment.

Besides, I think that its actually getting close enough that most people are in better moods, so the tendancy to stoke the BBQ is less pronounced <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
Besides, Fatpot's "When is it out" thread was the first I've seen in awhile.

Yeah, I think that the NS community is possibly THE best gaming community out there. I've been lurking since around June, joined a few months ago, and for as long as I've known these boards, almost everyone has been informed, polite, and welcoming. Unlike some boards *cough*, where if someone with 3 posts seems a bit slow the first response is "OMFG what a n00b!," these boards really make you feel at home.
And if you really annoy people, someone will always warn you before the flames come.
Lets try to keep it this way always, alright?

heh imo when the boards first went up was the best. Now there are some trouble makers. The bigger the community the worst it has gotten. At one point in time there where no "nukings" now they happen on a weekly (daily?) baisis.
Another thing is there used to be <b>no</b> flamings and every one used to be on the same level. Now every one has gone into little cliques. So the board has gotten less of the every one knows every one feel, and some people have superiourity complexes...
but this stuff happens as more people join, its expected.

How did you get your name?
I got mine back in the days when AOL was all that and more, just before their games started going p2p.
I was playing that crazy ### game were the mages and wizards duke it out. At that point I had no name, and all I could do was make up names. Names are generally consenet vowel etc. so I began to type. For examle Regoh could be a name with this somewhat random technique. Wetu, Nofer, Jesat, Mewor, Vober HELL YEA, VOBER IS BORN. As for my avater, and the word voberated... well that story is for another time and another day when I dont have homework....
This _is_ the most mature and well controlled community i've ever seen for a game, especially with this many people following and posting here and coming into irc

To me, the main problem with the forums is the people that post useless crap in each thread just to up their post count. I won't mention names, you know who you are. With so many of them posting stuff like "Har!" and "Cool" it makes it difficult to find the useful information in the thread. I've often seen interesting topics which are around 10 pages or more, yet only about 4 posts are useful. I guess it's something that can't be helped, I just prefer intelligent posts.

The NS comunity is great, very open and friendly, but I don't know about that IRC lot, I went in there to talk yesterday and they were having a conversation about the word "rewt" and it pretty much scared me away...
My name derived from the awesome game called Cannon Fodder, the first little soldier guy you get to control in the game is called, "Jops" and thats where it is from <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
on other boards are:
1) flames, spams in every post
2) one forum column called spam and flame corner, where everybody can flame and post everything but warez sites and porn... or is there porn too??? dunno...
