<div class="IPBDescription">Look, give input</div>ok. these are some layouts. tell me what i did wrong (i'm SURE there will be something).

<a href="http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/belgarion115/images/hl/NS/map_layout_color.txt" target="_blank">layout 1</a>
<a href="http://www.angelfire.com/anime2/belgarion115/images/hl/NS/map_layout2_color.txt" target="_blank">layout 2</a>
btw, in layout 2, the orange parts are elevators (same in 1, only they are yellow), and the part between them will be raised.  and please excuse the messyness...

Layout One: It looks great so far... To me it's just a bit on the small size

Layout Two: The r_speed s might be high with those long hallways. Mabey more turns, and with turns, rooms <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

BTW: How do you convert a picture into a txt?

you don't think there aren't enough resource nodes in the second layout1?

you just rename the file extention to txt and IE will automatically have it show up as an image instead of text. Netscape and Mozilla won't do it though.

I think both are ok starts, but before we start really going into whats wrong they should really be bigger.

i was sort of thinking they were too small too, but i want to start out with something a bit smaller. this will be my first ever official completed map. i've only made fragments before, let alone made a layout for one first. plus, i've never made one for a mod this cool. ^_^ and right now i'm mapping it in WC, and it's coming out rather well. i might expand it as i go too.

First layout:  not good.  Marines put a siege turret inside their base, aliens never get that hive.

And yah, the layouts are far too small.  You really should make them much larger if you want your map to be mostly enjoyable, as there is a limit to how small a map can get before it becomes tedious in terms of gameplay.

Above is my current 'posted layout' ChromeAngel pointed me into the right direction and I am currently 'developing' more parts and changing it offline. I gave this as an example of largeness, its thin on the top floor / top right.

looks really good but lab 1 and 2 are pointless... their dead ends find a way to incorperate them and its a winner.

Jeb you obviously missed <a href="http://www.natural-selection.org/cgi-bin/ikonboard/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=4;t=6265" target="_blank">this thread</a>, where we discussed Angel's layout there.

so basicaly i need to make them bigger bfore i should start mapping... i guess i could just put the hives farther apart and make more rooms in-between.

make the hallways much more twisty. bigger too. More resource nodes. And layout one is the better one but the hives only have 2 entrance.

What exactly is a research node, and what does it do?!

I have started on a map, and post screenshots a while back, but I am still unclear of how the game plays, and what objectives are and stuff. I would rather this whole thing was released, and then make a good level for it, than make a level that does work very well now.
