Time for a release, it has been playtested, and this version includes the changes that were suggested, but it wasn't playtested again, so I'll probably update it again if you find big issues with it.
This map is a reduced version of my NS map: <a href='http://www.pericenrash.com/mendasp/maps.php' target='_blank'>ns_phobia</a>, so if you were expecting an awesome map with lots of ns2.wad leetness, well, sorry, but this one uses wall_lab, yes, <b>wall_lab</b>. And it's probably not going to change the texture set, it's basicaly ns_phobia, but... smaller... and A LOT SMALLER, recommended for 10-16 players <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I know this one isn't as nice as ether, but... give it a try, please.

Check the readme.txt / my site to know which is the latest version (not now because this one is the first release, heh)
btw, if you find ns_phobia dark, and see this one fine, tell me please, so I can update phobia with the same RAD settings.
Hope you like it!

Looking at the pics, the map seems to be very general and nothing refreshing.
But playtesting will decide! <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I'll try to add some ambient sounds for the next version <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Good good, same for ns_phobia too, that suffers from the same proglem.
I just dont like it, sorry.
Although you have nice details, like roof-pipes etc, the basic layout, and lighting lets it down.
This map just depresses me.
Sorry <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Also, if you could please point out why don't you like the lighting, it would help me to fix it.
I'll start working on <a href='http://nsworld.ns-central.co.uk/Map.php?UniqueID=282' target='_blank'>sava</a> again, and when I'm out of inspiration, I'll be doing some fixes and improvements to phobia, I guess.

Sava is much better, just shows your mapping development over the 2 years <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
I can't believe you said that. Look at the map overview, you see skylight being projected, spotlights, texture lights. Thats just the overview, looks alot better ingame. This is a keeper Mendasp, and ambient sounds would make Phobia, one of the most feared maps in Combat!
Let's look at this image.
<img src='http://www.pericenrash.com/mendasp/mapas/co_phobia/co_phobia6.jpg' border='0' alt='user posted image' />
1) The entire room is default lit with a white light. So there's absolutely no shadows. Just 'slightly darker' areas.
2) The sign on the left is lit with something as complex as a white light entity smashed on the ceiling. It looks very poor, especially with the washed out area on the ceiling where the entity is at.
3) The red lights are stupid. Why are they there? A warning? No, doesn't look like it, theyr'e just there for no reason. They add no atmosphere, they don't make it look cool, all they do is break up the boring white lighting in the room.
4) The red lights are made even MORE out of place by the white texture lights on the sides, and even further by the blue coming from the skylight.
Sorry, this map looks very well made design-wise, but the lighting is very poor quality. With a name like ns_phobia I would be expecting close corridors, moody lighting, etc, not wide open, brightly lit halls. Sorry.
Maps names dont always have to be relavent to the theme. It would be nice if they were, but dont have to be.

Meh, that just makes me like the map less, actually... staking claim to a good name that has potential for a good map, then make it totally opposite, so no one else can use it, ever.

A good example of this is ns_nothing, filled with alot of detail. In theory, Mendasp and Ken could have been going for opposites between the name and type of map.
Although I do not believe this was the case, as Mendasp started out the map without wall_lab, and Ken designed Space Station Nothing as a DM Map, and converted and revamped for NS.
Also your little speech makes it sound like your happy with the map, but not happy with the choice of name by the author. Does it really matter that much? Phobia could have been a philosiphers name or anything, not just fear.
The lighting style is kinda old, and there are no light entities making the rooms lit. That's because when I used a bigger value on RAD's -gamma people was complaining the map was very dark, so I left it at the default value. Most of the contrast was gone.
Also, for a MS, it should be a bright area, so marines <i>feel</i> safe, and doing the whole thing darker while you get close to the hive, or that's what the guidelines <b>said</b> long time ago (I don't know if they still say that). Anyways, I agree that the red lights serve no purpose, except making the room feel less empty...
The lighting isn't as great as I could do now, but that's another thing... I'm a bit tired of this map, and I just released both versions so I could move onto newer things.
Also, you could have pointed out those issues with the MS ss in your first post. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
Besides, the lighting could be worse.
It could be co_kestrel.
