New map layout

<div class="IPBDescription">I've started another one</div>I've put togther the basic stucture of a new NS map, using the triangle layout (with the marine base in the center).  I thought i'd post the minimap in case i've missed anything.  It's a bit squashed up due to the way minimaps are produced, it basically square in reality.

It will be set onboard a large starship, I haven't tied down any specifics yet.  If you have ideas for location names or names for the map I could use the inspiration.

    Well, are you  trying for somthing more traditional or somthing new?

    Somthing New:
    ns_slipstream: Aboard a large intergalactic cruiseliner that was recently infested.

    ns_hubris: Large elevation changes throughout the map. Set in a large asteriod interior that has been mostly mined out.

    ns_colombus: Set onboard a huge capital ship. Features a fantastic hanger filled with corvettes and fighters. Panoramic bridge and gigantic engine room.

    ns_intercept: Set aboard a moon. The moon holds a gigantic laser that is used to destroy planet-killing asteroids.

    Only idea I don't suggest : If marines get far away from a commander with huge height differences, they can be hard to see and such. Rest are pretty cool though <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

    Well its possible that the the base that is setup on the asteroid is not on top of a pole, but going in sideways, so the farther you go one way the deeper you get as opposed to going straight down.     Following the recent set of new layouts I have been moved to update the <a href="http://www.planethalflife.com/nsworld/MappingGuide/MappingGuide.ASP" target="_blank">Quickstart Mapping Guide</a> to include a little more advice relating to map layouts (in the 'Should Have' section).

    Looks cool, i like the triangle layout type =) i think its more balanced..... dunno, anyways its easy for marines to take over a hive, but if the aliens take over the 3, the marines are completely surrounded =)

    For some reason I would like to see a map about a rescue mission map like the Alien movies.

    ns_abondoned,ns_deliverance, ns_restoration- marine spawn having crashed ship where the marines came in.  Gives the feeling of being stranded.  Have lots of weldable doors between aliens and marines.  Once marines go past weldable doors, there is tons of alien atmosphere (IE bodies on walls, goo, broken pipes).  Also could have areas below grate walkway in which aliens could travel aroundt through.  Good luck with whatever you decide!

    ns is trying to avoid over gore.

    Ha anyway, I see what you mean but to get this atmosphere you don't have to have bodies.  Strange alien sculptures and formations did the trick in AVP.  Id like to be actually afraid to go into the alien part of the map. tee hee
