I just don't get it. They're peieces of metal designed to make other peices of metal go very fast. They only have one purpose, to make stuff die. What's the draw of that? You can't eat em, protect yourself from the elements with em, clothe yourself with em, or have sex with em, so what's the draw?

Guns are nice because they show a dedicated craftsmanship.

The reflections, the elegant design, the curves, the mechanical interaction...It's not always about blowing stuff up. In fact, one gun making company gives each president a uniquely designed gun, which they're pretty much guaranteed never to shoot.

I like the Dragunov because it combines the robustness of steel with the beauty of nature in its wood stock and barrel...of course, newer models use plastic, but oh well - still looks fairly nice.

It's also why I love bolt-action rifles...they're so sleek and cool with the bolt operation - even without a bullet chambered. As reply to the 5 basic human needs: Natural-Selection and computing aren't one of those 5 either <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo--> . Although, some people do still use their guns to acquire food and protecting their shelter (but this isn't their main purpose anymore - in the western world anyway).
