<div class="IPBDescription">Make Icons? Help?</div> Hopefully someone can help me with this:
I made a program for cleaning out the Windows Clipboard
(Its nothing special but it makes my life a little easier)
but I don't like the default icon. So I want to know
how to design my own.

What program can do it?
Is the file-extension .ico?
Yes you can have the program is you want it (completely free)
but let me get the icon sorted first :-)

    Personally, I use Photoshop and <a href='http://www.axialis.com/axicons/' target='_blank'>IconWorkshop</a>. Works very nciely indeed. I believe the demo of Iconworkshop has a 30 day trial, with no limited functionality.

    The file extension is .ico, which is a library of a number of different images which are used on different Windows versions, at different colour depths and sizes. You should make your icon in Photoshop at about 128x128 pixels, on a transparent background, with alpha transparency, and compress it to one layer. Or you can tell IconWorkshop to use a PNG, or even a gif if you dont care about it looking nice on Windows XP.

    I tried that Caboose but its has to comply to a certain
    colo(u)r limitation.
    Thanks Fam, downloading IconWorkshop now. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Thanks for the replies guys. I used Fam's link and
    made an icon in roughly 2 minutes <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    but you have to <i>pay</i>.. and if you don't, then you get annoying messages, like, every 5 mouseclicks >_<

    I would say that Microangelo comes in a distinct second to IconWorkshop. IconWorkshop allows you to make your icon entirely in Photoshop, and then within 4 clicks have it saved as an icon in every format needed.

    Thants not to say Microangelo isnt good, but Ive tried them all, and iconWorkshop really does put the cherry on the cake.

    YEah I gotta admit, IconWorkshop was amazingly easy to use.
    I had it open for less than 5 minutes and got the job done.
    A simple job but a complete one non-the-less <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->
