<div class="IPBDescription">During the defeat of Poland</div> Taken from my history workbook:

<!--QuoteBegin--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td><b>QUOTE</b> </td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'><!--QuoteEBegin-->...there exists a famous picture of a Polish cavalryman desperately waving his sword at the German aircraft as it was strafing Polish forces. That picture nicely contrasts twentieth century industrial warfare with the tacts of an earlier century.<!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->

Out of convenience, the photo wasn't shown in my book, not was there a name attributed to the photograph. Can someone tell me where I can find it?

I don't know where to find any pictures, but a large group of Polish lancers did charge a German panzer formation during the invasion. They were all wiped out. Certainly a testemant to bravery and sadly, futility.

Interestingly the Polish actually had some fairly good tanks, but their armour tactics were mired in WWI style "infanty support roles". And despite German claims that the invasion was almost cost free, the invading army suffered around 40,000 casualties.
