I've recently started having a really annoying problem. At random points in the game, my ping will get pretty high, in the 500s, and be fluctuating. My loss and choke stay at 0, but my latency goes crazy. It might go back to normal after a while, then give me problems again. Occasionally it will freeze up completely, giving me a "warning: cl_flushentity packet" message. My friend playing NS on a machine in the same room does not have any problems. Changing network cords or ports doesn't fix it either. I tried changing around my Catalyst version too, but to no avail.
Another problem is sometimes the game will "catch" for a bit every second, making it nigh-unplayable. This starts when Steam is minimized and sometimes when the map changes. Restarting Steam fixes it, but it's still irritating.
Now the third problem is sound-related. On some maps and servers, when I get closer to a sound source in a map, the sound starts cracking and popping. The closer you get, the louder the crackling. Sometimes there's no cracking, but if there's any, you can hear it throughout the map with varying intensity. It doesn't really have any effect on video as far as I can tell.
The weirdest part is that it seemed to work fine a month or so ago.
(edit) Forgot to mention, my FPS is always fine, and re-installing NS didn't work

Make sure steam dosn't do this by right clicking on each game in the games list and telling it to not auto update.
