<div class="IPBDescription">Sorry if this question is already</div>Hi all, this is my first post but i'm here for a lot of time reading all the topics and refreshing the topics every 10 mins (i'm addicted at NS and haven't played). I have a question....the onos he moves slow and lmg marine is supposed to move faster and i ask....can a marine run awway with a lot ammo shooting at onos while he is following him,if marine is faster, onos will never be able to make a melee attack to marine or i'm wrong?? <!--emo&::asrifle::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/asrifle.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::asrifle::'><!--endemo--> <!--emo&::onos::--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tiny.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='::onos::'><!--endemo-->

-a) backpedal and shoot.
-b) turn and run
If marine chooses option (a), the result is a marine pancake. Marines backpedal slower than they run forward.
If marine choose option (b), one of the following scenarios will result:
2a) Follow him. The longer an onos moves in a straight line, the faster he goes. It's like a train. Result: marine pancake.
2b) Paralyze him. The Onos' 1-hive weapon paralyzes a marine in place for ~5 seconds. Result: marine pancake.
2c) Primal Scream, giving himself a 20% movement speed increase. Then activate Charge, and mow the marine over. Result: marine pancake.
A LMG-equipped marine stands not-a-CHANCE against an Onos. His only hope is to make it back to some better-equipped teammates, or several turrets.
Oh by the way... WELCOME! (:

1 question more.Is shotgun effective for at least to kill 1 of the aliens, because always are talking about nade launcher lmg and hmg but what happen with shutgun??is #### like the other mods or do you have a chance (i wanted to say possiblity don't know if i said right)to kill someone or at least to hold position while you wait to someone with hmg help you.
=EDIT=
Oh, the shotty is a wonderful weapon indeed! Since a lot of the alien attacks are melee, they have to be close, and a shotgun only hurts more the closer an alien gets <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo--> Though I guess some one who has played could give a more definitive explination.
The shotgun is pretty much the worst nightmare of Skulks. One blast at a decently close range usually kills, and since Skulks have no long-range weaponry they must get very close to attack. Even surprise attacks on a shotgun user probably won't be effective if the shotgunner has quick reflexes. Gorges are usually fried meat to a shotgun-wielder, too, not that they stand too much chance against marines in a head-on conflict either. Lerks are okay as long as they keep flying, since it's hard to hit the suckers without a fully-automatic weapon. You can splatter them pretty easily the instant they land, though. Against a Fade or Onos, however, you're better off finding better weaponry. Your first shot will probably damage them a decent amount, but you'll just get torn to shreds while pumping the shotgun to get ready for your next shot. Also, shotguns are pretty effective in taking out alien structures.
I wrote a frontlines story about tripmines and an Onos... here's a copy/paste:
<!--QuoteBegin--></span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td><b>Quote</b> </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE"><!--QuoteEBegin-->Yeah, a tense game on Hera yesterday lasted so long because the marines relocated from the very start... Reception is a very difficult room to get into!!
One highlight of that game was approaching Reception from the former marine base... I went up the elevator as a level1, where I saw a screen of tripmines covering the doorway. However, I realized that the level 1 and 3, small as they are, could fit underneath the lowest trip-laser without setting it off! So I evolved to level3 and started dodging back and forth into the hallway, playing hide-and-snipe with the two turrets at the far end of the hallway. Just then, I heard the elevator moving... I looked down and saw a level5 coming up.
I was in the process of saying "Here, I'll suicide and blow up these mines for you," when he just barreled RIGHT through them, blowing them (and me) up, and ran down the hallway and destroyed both turrets before continuing in to wreak havoc on the marine base. It was beautiful, and the epitome of the level5 "I'm a lot bigger, stronger, and meaner than you are" mentality. Woo. <!--QuoteEnd--></td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'><!--QuoteEEnd-->
My opinion is that if a marine triggers a mine he should get a suicide sign bacause it was he who ran into it. Also I think that a marine should die from mine even if the ff is off because some lamas might run through a mine field just to take a shortcut.
Nice stories......... I WANNA PLAY NS=/
*Onos prancing allong and sees and LMG marine*
Marine: Oh sh*t!! *runs around a corner*
*Onos comes around the corner to see 14 marines with GL's and the LMG marine standing there with guns pointed at him*
Onos: Oh SH*T *thwp thump thwap*(grenades getting launched)
*BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM*
*smoking crater*
Onos sees 14 marines with GLs and lmgs, activates charge and runs through killing three but moving to be facing parrallel to the line on one end. Charges through the line leaving 1 or 2 marines maybe dies then or maybe kills them.
While in charge, the level5 can move freely, gaining speed, so a charging level 5 can turn freely. Charge is never deactivated until your energy runs dry.

Good choice, the jetpack is probably the the only escape to an oncoming level5 unless you have some awesome dodging skills (rail jumping, etc), the only drawback is you have to substitute Heavy Armor for it. (jetpack, that is) <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->
I got a question, can you have heavyarmor and jetpack at the same time?
Does he have any attacks against the marines overhead. If the marine quickly ran up a ladder and as onos got there (I won't resolve to the climbing issue) he jumps off, continuously firing at him. And goes back up on the ladder.
Or if he is above the onos without a ladder and shooting at him. Can the Onos kill him on the spot, does he have any ranged weapons?
What about GL or other heavy weapons?

ohnos just needs to paralyze the marine, paralyze hits at a range.
Does he just fall and possibly die?

I'd bett that 14xhowever much damage a grenade does on direct impact would definately 1 hit a onos, a direct hit nade is probably over 100 damage, plus the LMG bullet(s).

Yes. It's quite fun to paralyze marines who are jetpacking several stories up. (:<
I would have thought the group would be paralyzed.
