<div class="IPBDescription">Pretty please</div>Anyone else having trouble with the Intellimouse Explorer and WinXP? It just cuts out at random times for 5-10 seconds, and in warcraft 3, literally cuts out for 2-3 minutes, especially when I need to build more units or attack the enemy base. The new drivers had no visibly effect, and other people are telling me they hate the mouse also. Any reccomendations on a new one, or a fix for this one (doubtful) ?

I would recommend a Trackball, (Cue most people attacking my view) I've got a marble trackball from Logitech, Its accurate as hell comfy and you don't need a lot of desk space, It only has 2 buttons though, but just get one with more buttons

Once you get used to it though you'll be able to perform 360 degree truns with one flick of a finger!

Yah, I have used a trackball before. Shpiffy little things, but I don't think I could convince the rest of my family to use it. And I need at least 3 buttons for Maya, but as you said, I could get a different one.

track balls are wonderful (trust me if you can learn to use onwe you can increase your FPS gaming ability ALOT)

/me has marble (read optical) track ball form logitech also, and ofcourse you need a scroll wheel (thus also giving you a 3rd 4th and 5th mouse button ;D)

hmm, I have not heard anything about this winXP + inellemouse problems, I would sugest borowing a frineds mouse to see if it works

Once again, I am all for a trackball. I would just have to convince the rest of the family. I'll go try right now.

    Logitech x2 Optic mouse.

Has 2 sensors, and a wheel, so it doesn't "spaz" much, unlike my other x1 optic mouse.

Huh! I'm having the same trouble with my Logitech Optical Mouse (the blue dealie with the optical tracking?) in Win Me. That's weird...

Maybe windows hates optical mouses? I dunno. I think I convinced everyone a trackball is good, and I have used one before. Still not sure though.

Maybe it's just optical mice. Windows has a problem properly patching them... all the same, it never used to do this before I installed the patch...

I have a strange problem where the mouse and the keyboard locks for a few seconds (especially in games) and sometimes it locks permanently, and the only way to solve it is to hit the reset button... don't think the mose/keyboard has anything to do with it tho...

Btw, my cousin has two computers, both with XP and intellimouse explorers... no problems at all there...

I've got an Intellimouse Explorer and I'm running XP. I had a few problems with the mouse freezing for about 2-3 seconds, in AvP2 that's long enough for you to be munched on by about 6 drones at once. I can't remember what fixed it though. It's been running flawlessly for the last couple of months now. Try running windows update and get the critical patches, that might fix it.

This sounds very familiar to a problem I had a long time ago.  It was not the mouse or the software, it was the Motherboard USB (It was a VIA chipset, but I forget the version).  I worked around this by buying a PCI USB expansion card, disabling the onboard USB, using the expansion card for the USB devices and and then all was well again.
