"changing" Materials In Ns

<div class="IPBDescription">dont ban me plz, its serious</div> so I read a closed thread... never mind it was about flamming each other anyways ^^
we all know that there is a material.txt tha defines sound for textures, as far as they arelisted in this file.
so you might have the problem, that you want to have a specific sound for a specific texture.
we also now that changing the materials.txt is up to the ns team.
<b>I KNOW</b> that changing the materials.txt can be very dangerous, crashing maps and messing up all the game.
ns does have its own surface sounds such as for metal, grates, water. the other sounds, that dont appear in ns but are defined for standart hl textures in the materials.wad can still be used.
for example me needed (!!! needed badly to be exact ^^) a sound when walking on sand. so I copied the texture in my custom-wad and named it like a texture that is bound to "sand sound" in hl (out_sand). voila!
only little funny is that all players have, of course, the same walksound. but with one difference: skulks steps are very fast but onos sounds are VERY slow, this sounds funny ^^
soyou can applythe sound you want to the textures, this might be useful because the ns textures dont vary the surface sounds wel, allways the same "clank,clank,clank" sound when walking on eclipse, nothing, mineshaft etc...
