While I'm glad to see such enthusiasm for spreading the word, I don't think it right to go around other games forums and servers, telling them such and such game is going to be better. I remember once that some company (EA, I think) had a contest- If you go on other popular MMOG games forumns and tell them how much better EA's was than theirs, you got a chance to win a prize. Thats pretty low right there. But yeah, telling your friends and such about it is cool.

Also, I beleive this is yet ANOTHER post that would be perfect for my "Proclomations" Section.

Lol, you and your Proclamations Section, QUAD....

Yeah, spread the word as much as you can! Remember that some people get kinda annoyed when you spam their boards and such with random messages...no negative advertising, of course! <!--emo&:)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'><!--endemo-->

And yes, I have made sure that every computer-game player in my grade (there are at least ten of them) know about NS. Whether or not they download it, of course, is dependant upon if I highly reccomend it upon release. So make sure to give me a good impression! <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->

Actually, one of the afore-mentioned gamers kinda sucks at FPS's but is pretty good at SC, so he might try NS just for the commander mode aspect. Of course, I'm not sure he knows what happens when the CC is destroyed...

If he's a good enough RTS player, then he may not have to worry about that...

Alright, I was planning on doing this eventually but this seems like a good place to do it.

I will go to the bushido(another hl mod) forums and preach the good word that is NS, if you will allow me to throw in a word or two about bushido:

    _

    Bushido:  <a href="http://www.planethalf-life.com/bushido" target="_blank">www.planethalf-life.com/bushido</a>

Japanese Fuedal Warfare.  Third person, melee(for the most part), teamplay, with classes like samurai, warrior monk,  ninja, etc.

Gameplay types include duel, CTF, siege, and assassination.

Combat is more than just crowbars with different skins and damages.  It has been kept secret as to exactly how it will work but does include things like block and parry.

    4 teams, 4 colors, 4 clan symbols.

Honor system that allows proven players to advance in class levels.  This gives the character a new model, new weapons, and higher attributes.
    _

If any admin dissaproves of this, feel free to delete it.  I wont have to be bothered to post about NS over in the bushido forums that way.

To be honest, it shouldn't matter in a game if you're good on not, so long as you enjoy it. I believe this will be an enjoyable game. Not everyone can be amazing players, but that doesn't usually stop people from playing.

There's a difference between casual talk and out right pimping.

To go onto a board you frequent and say "Hey guys, check this new mod out, it looks great" is nothing but friendly chatter.

But if you go and just heartless pimp, it's in bad taste...yeah.

ok, here are a few basic things to keep in mind if you wana pimp Ns:
    1) keep in off topic (unless there is a specific place on the forum)
    2) don't spam
    3) don't go off on how much better NS will be then X game/mod
    4) only post this in places where you are at least fairly well known!!

4 is realy important (it is realy anoying when you have some one with like 2 posts come in and start talking about another mod, it is obviously just some one who came in to pimp)

BTW Mess' post is basicaly the perfect type of pimping, all it does is give the addy, and tell the +s about the mod (lol Bushido is one I have been watching for a long time, do you have any news on compleation/release time on it?)

Have you ever thought, that the more popular NS becomes, more llamas will be attracted to it. No matter what you do. Its not NS' fault but if NS is going to be more popular than cs, it will become as bad llama fest as counter-strike.

Ok, this post was pretty messy. I apologize. But i have solution right here: lets keep ns as our own and never tell anyone about it  <!--emo&;)--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'><!--endemo-->

Edit: But on the other hand, we shouldn't keep one of the worlds biggest treasures hidden. Okay, SPREAD THE WORD!

Dread is right, people who take time to try out a new mod are the only people who are worth playing with anyway.

I put a post on my Day of Defeat guild's message board trying not to sound preachy or sarcastic. I said Natural Selection looked like a promising mod and that they should check it out. No lamers in the guild I'm in!

Ive been doing this for awhile now and alot of people have started following ns's progress cos of me <!--emo&:D--><img src="http://www.natural-selection.org/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'><!--endemo-->
Id just like to ask all of you to please limit the amount of CS forums you post on, otherwise you may as well just post on a myg0t forum "NEW GAME FOR YOU TO RUIN HERE".

I was about to make a post about NS in the Halflife.Org forums but somebody else had beaten me to it...
  • MessenjahMessenjah Join Date: 2002-10-04 Member: 1428Members
Thansel, they seem to be having some kind of problem with the code or something.  They said back in early july that they would start private beta testing, but that didn't turn out to well.  They are using NS's same "it's done when it's done" motto but I would guess sometime around christmas.
