Physics?

Now, I'm wonder if its possible to use other physics in the hl engine? I know there are some better ones than hl, so why not use those? I'm sure its possible to code those in. A good one I found was Newtons Physics. Its free and easy to install with other game engines, not sure about half-life.

Is it possible?

    It is. Sven Coop did a sweet weapon phyics thing.

    Yeah it would be nice to see a shotgun blast throwing a fade back if it kills it, just like the double blast on an alien slave on sven coop. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    I kinda like how NS is now, and we should leave all the eye candy aside till HL2 <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    Without proper joints in the models, "realistic" physics will make things look awful, getting that "invisible wooden stretcher" effect for corpses that're flying helter skelter.

    Reminds me of killing airborne enemies in Duke3D. Man, that was and still is a good game that has never been surpassed in level interactivity.

    I must admit if nothing else at least a bit of throwback when you kill a rine with charge or leap.

    CWAG your guy who sees things is gone <!--emo&:(--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/sad.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='sad.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    And that robot from Knights of the old republic is the coolest.

    I think that this is one of those "Be nice, but they've got much more important things to do with their time" kinda deals.

    Now that they've fixed the animations, I've seen quite a few nice fade kills, a shotty blast against the wall, a too-late blink down an elevator shaft only to crumple on the botttom. The lack of slow odd, jerky anims has done wonders for atmosphere for me.

    i have seen a very funny and new (at least to me) animation in 3.0 involving a marine death animation. Sometimes when killed with i guess a powerful attack (mainly onos gore) the marines body will go flying and do a backflip, basically floping around in a quite comical fashion. anyone else seen this?

    A basic physics system is actually possible in the half life engine, i've seen it done, basically all it was was some body flop code for all the bones in the model, and a similar code for more simple models, not that advanced, but it gave a better effect than is currently there, though tbh I dont think its really worth the resources (computer, not game <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->)
