<div class="IPBDescription">>_< annoying</div> Ingame i cant use my microphone because it has static when i talk.
i found out that it isnt the microphone, because i unplugged it and used voicecomm and the static was still there?! so heres me thinking its something to do with my drivers

i have SoundBlaster live! 5.1 soundcard, JUST formatted, installed drivers. k, get ingame, static .. righto .. update drivers thru device manager (using ones windows found), static goes away, however my volume is down by like 80% and it refuses to go up. so i reinstall sound drivers from the CD and static is back?

anyone know how to fix this?

    Well, the voice comm through HL has always been fuzzy, how bad is the static.
    So bad you can hardly hear anything, or more in the background?

    So, it's not the microphone, what happens when you record a sound on the windows sound recorder?
    Try that first, if that's static too, then it's your drivers, or the soundcard.

    So, if windows SR works: reinstall steam.
    If windows SR doesn't work: reinstall drivers
    Still bugged? reinstall windows.
    Still bugged? soundcard &$*#**#^*# (borken.)

    Good luck. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    update your sound card drivers, run the direct x setup, make sure your mic is plugged in all the way, turn off or on mic boost in windows and then run the hl voice tweak. Also , if you have another mic, try that. Mics go bad ya know. what windows o/s you running, whats your specs?
