I've worked a bit more on Akaba, and now the hive and the outside area are (almost) done.
Since i changed the layout, i have to redo the Marine-Start..

Here is some pics:

JP/skulk/lerks heaven (the biggest r-speeds "peek" is at 750/850, otherwise it's generally around 350/500)

(The cavern and the beginning of the infestation, the hive is deeper in the cavern, and it's not jetpacks's friendly)

    Its easy to fix the idea of skulks running on the sky box. Create some type of electrical fencing that juts out of the rock and building. As far as the lerks flying that might be a little more difficult. Stunning tho, truely beautiful.

    I think by now everyone knows there are limits in a map, so they shouldnt be bothered by an outside area where lerks cant fly *everywhere.*

    The skulks climbing on the skybox would be fixed the same way hera's was, so I think so far this outside area is looking fantastic. Its the least of your worries ATM IMHO. <!--emo&:)--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    EDIT:: And inside the cavren, make sure you add some water puddles to give the infestation that damp feel..

    I like it very much .. but isn't it to big ?? guys with JP+hmg / mg can easily kill skulks and there's so much fly-space ....

    However the idea like they did in Aliens vs Predator (2) to put electric fences near the sky brush, this would solve the skulk problem most likely, and lerks... Well lets just asume they cant survive a long distance from the hive mind.

    Looks very purdy. I been itchin' for outdoors NS. As far as Lerks go, just make barbed wire go around the uppermost reigon (that should hopefully knock the skulks off), and for Lerks, get an invisible brush that does a lot of damage fast (like one of the Doom acid pits) and put it in the air above the barbed wire, maybe a little higher if you want, and say that it gets too cold and the air too thin for the Lerk to survive so far from its hive or something.

    Looks very nice. The outside theme of it makes it all the better. Most maps these days are just inside, it's nice to smell the fresh kharaa infested air.

    Very nice this architechture and lighting. However about that outside area... (probably the question you expected <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> ) Have you solved the issue about the skulks walking on the sky? and the lerks not able to fly aways etc.

    Other then that great work, also mayb a precentage of progress and backstorie... I love backstories <!--emo&:p--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/tounge.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tounge.gif' /><!--endemo-->

    The ground texture in the second pic looks a little repative from that height.

    I was going to say that the caves would be to marine friendly, but since the hive area will probaly be more crampt (you said non JP friendly) it should even out; how about a shot of the marine spawn too?

    Too bad the story makes the outside area <i>bad</i> if you want to try and make the map official (even if ns_hera is an exception).     My tip: Make a glass dome outside to prevent sky-climbing skulks and incompatibility with Natural Selections background story.

    Stunning, Spectacular and Super. Alliteration always means that a top notch map is around the corner. Nice one Kawak, the name akaba makes me think of Merkaba for some reason.     I think that too..I will do nothing about the sky blocking players as it dont affect the gameplay, only the "realism" (it's just a game..who cares about realism? <!--emo&:D--><img src='http://www.unknownworlds.com/forums/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> )
    And if i add barbed wire or forcefield barrier it will certainly add more to the r-speeds so i will let as it is.

    And for thoses who are wondering about the name Akaba, it's from the movie "Lawrence d'Arabie". This is the name of a town near the Suez Canal.

    yes, maybe i should add 1 more way under that outside area connecting the hive and the Marine-start (actually players have to pass in the outside to go to the other side of the map).

    Isn't it very open though[In the cave area]? From the screenshots, I really don't see skulks being useful(without leap).

    if you raise seperate areas of the outside areas instead of having one flat surface, It will break up the space and make it much more playable. I think the path from the Top exit of the Base to the Top Cave entrance should be raised.

    It certainly looks nice, and it's not an endless maze of flat rooms and hallways, so I'm initially impressed. Only thing left for me is to actually play the final version see if it's fun as it looks.
