I wasn't trying to be nasty, Phyco- I like the model, it just needs trimming to keep framerates up. It has 3124 vertices, but 4739 polys- that's high for UT2k3, much less HL. 764 just in the <i>clip</i>. The barrel has over 620, and the same effect can be done for 100 or less- see the attachment... I like the concept and the model looks good, but it's impractical for game usage, just trying to give some constructive criticism here, not insult your work...
Before you do anything else, cut the polycount <i>way</i> down- you're over 4700- that should be more like 12-1500 tops- and you haven't even added the hands yet...

when you say AK i hope you mean the way your spose to hold a AK from the sholder and not the Terriost way from CS. If its the way your spose too it would be the shibby, though i dont know where it should be placed then. Should it be high in the screen or down at the bottom right... choices, choices, actually either way i would dig it beyond beleif.
For example HL2 has a 2000 polycount for guns. And if that contains 3000 polyes.. And it's still meant for HL1 mod, Ermh?
Edit: And by the way, 1500 polygon guns arent just a "box with holes". i marked the places where you definatly cut the poly count those places are faar to round for a game. At the marked spot you can easily cut 1200 + polys. The part i marked that are not round can be mappen no need to model them. especially new games like hl2 or doom3 use gunmodels with no more than 2500+ polys it all depends on mapping talent and new technologys like bumpmapping.
Downloaded the .3ds file. And the whole scene (whole gun) <u>does contain a total of <b>4799</b> polygons</u>. It only seem to be lover, because when turned in to a poly, polygon counter counts polygons (so you could have for example 5 triangels on a poly). And e.mesh always counts the triangels.
So it's pretty obvious that your gun will not work in the game.
And please, if you are a noob don't whine when somebody is trying to help you.
Yah, I got 4799 in Max, 4739 in MS3d... but even if it had been 3100, it would still be over 4000+ by the time the grip was smoothed and the hands added, still too high... What prog are you using for that, Phyco? I'm guessing Max?
