www.nationmaster.com
So I was watching Click Online a computer program on BBC and they mentioned Nationmaster it is a site which takes facts from countries and puts them in lists, like highest GDP, and most crimes. Not only that it has one of the most extensive encyclopedias I have ever seen (about countries). But the main point is the country lists, it even has a map for every statistic color codeing the highest and lowest and everyone else in between.

Take this for example, who would have guessed that Finland it number 1 in Summer olympic medals {all time} (per capita) and 3rd in Winter olympic medals {all time} (per capita), it makes me proud to be finn.

Ya know, some things there gave me a feeling that of... I dunno.... bad stuff.....

Like, in cirimes, for Brazil, they speak like the Brazilian government actually supported the produce of cocaine in the Amazon. I mean, come on! Look at the size of that thing! It's hard to have a safe, 100% control

And look at this! Economy. I never thought Brazil would be in 15th place... Note bad for a LEDC

considering the number of unreported rapes in the US I would consider this way worse than our murder numbers, and they still push for anti-abortion laws and abstinance that leads to that sort of crap.

Just to let you guys know, that rapes stat is off, what are the basing it off of and how much of it is reported?

I'd think a country like China or India has many more rapes (way more people) but it's under-reported due to a less-liberal society.

It seems to me that other countries aren't reporting what their actual stats are because:

a.) They don't care enough to keep them
b.) They don't report them truthfully
c.) Women in other countries are afraid to speak out against rapes
d.) Smaller countries will naturally have less rapes
e.) Not all the countries in that statistic database are covered, I mean 50% of Africa has aids and not one of their country is top for rape... yeah.
f.) A lot of it has to do with how many rights women get, if a woman in the middle east or china gets raped nothing will probably ever happen as she is afraid to speak out against it due to how their society is constructed.

Try to keep an alert mind when interpreting some of these statistics, for me it's no surprise that there are so many rapes in the US, considering that we are the 3rd most populated country in the world.

Forlorn, I think you shouldn't bash other countries without anything to back it up. Saying that authorities in China don't care about women getting raped is quite harsh. In fact, criminality is taken extremely serious in China for example. And I'm quite sure it's at least as emancipated as the USA if not even more. So please don't throw in political propaganda in here :/

"c.) Women in other countries are afraid to speak out against rapes"

What has this to do with a country? You are surely refering to a different political system, yet politics has only very little to do with such things as speaking out against rapage.

Everyone likes to bash the communists in China, but they did a lot to help women who were previously treated as furniture. Foot binding anyone? Mao put a ban on this, for example.
