A 15-year-old boy miraculously survived after leaping 20 storeys to escape taunts by his older brother for losing in a computer game.

The boy was taken to hospital pale but unscathed after landing on the awning of a shop on the ground floor of the Kowloon district residential block where he lives, Sing Tao newspaper reported today.

A fire brigade spokesman described the incident as a "miracle and lucky escape".

The former British colony is a dense urban city where most of its seven million inhabitants live in high-rise blocks.

    owned, thats just like the time the kid threw his cat in the oven becuase it hit the dial up network and exited him out of bf 1942 Multiplayer during a clan match, the cat did survive 366 oC for 19 minutes, he was charged for animal brutality and abuse and made best friends with bubba who bunked in his jail cell, along with many other inmates :x

    I'm not wanting to sound like the bleeding heart- but we need to find ways this doesn't happen. Maybe just a note or something in the game, saying re-enacting anything in the game is a bad idea, or doing anything BECAUSE of the game is a bad idea. Just because for some people, that WILL break their problem.

    im gonna go out on a limb here and say that the game wasnt the instigator, but his older brothers constant belittlement of him. Chances are that he just happened to be playing a game, but his brothers insults are what drove him out the window. Many children have developed mental trauma from sibiling abuse, this one just happened to manifest itself in a gamer who was unfortunately too close to a window when he snapped. He is a lucky lil **** tho.

    Jumping from buildings is an unreliable suicide method, unless the building is very high (e.g. World Trade Center).

    maybe, if you read the actual post instead of the title, you would see that he landed on a shop awning. probably made of cloth, so technically, it was only a 19 storey fall onto a soft landing.

    I think it's fairly obvious here that the kid had deeper problems than simply feeling bad about a computer game. Most likely the gaming incident was the last straw that, when compounded with deep rooted phycological (memo: send message to forum mods re: built-in spell checker) problems caused him to act in this manner. Rare indeed are the perfectly balanced individuals who would kill themselves over something this trivial.
