So, why do you hang around ns?

The question to the answer 42.
I was just reading the Mr. C story, and all of a sudden I realized why I've already fallen in love with NS. And I just decided it might be nice to hear others reasons.
My reason:
I don't know if anyone here's ever heard of a game called Chain of Command, and if you've played it, you already know what I'm talking about.
Anyway, it was a free real time, multiplayer, team based strategy game. Each team had a mission commander and the other four players, or three or two or even one depending on the map, had their own squad to move around. The commander doled out weapons and gave the orders. You'd have arguments erupt when someone disagreed or felt like being different. You'd have one guy screaming for help as he held his sides flank. Others screaming for people to move up and press the attack.
People that played together formed a bond where you would whole heartedly trust each other in game. The players that excelled at commanding could've ordered everyone on a suicide charge and no one would blink an eye. However, those that couldn't hack it in command, or those that proved to be unreliable in the trenches, would've been fragged in record time if that had been possible.
That has to be one of the best games I've ever played and it's home to some of the best experiences I've had in gaming. I can feel that happening with NS. It feels very similar, and far better in many respects. Just reading the play testers stories seems to be confirmation of that. If this game doesn't carve a sizable niche for itself, I will be surprised. But at the same time, if it doesn't, a small, tight community ain't a bad thing.
All hail NS!
In fact, I think I'll track down some of my old friends from CoC and see if they'll head over here.

What's got me so addicted to NS is the different play styles for Aliens and Marines; they are (assumedly) balanced yet weapons and upgrades don't overlap. Also the necessity for teamwork on the marines part- I used to be a big tribes player, but it seemed to recess into less of a team game and more of a DM of quake.
1. innovation: ns is the first game of its type (to my knowledge at least). it is a breath of fresh air, not another cs clone. this game really does involve TEAMPLAY and not team deathmatch (well at least for the marines). heh, the game has something for everyone. i'd suspect the main concept of ns will be cloned for years to come.
2. professionalism: this is the first mod i have ever seen done so well and so complete. they're also doing things that ppl thought were never possible in the hl engine. the ns team also seems to be one heck of a dedicated team. they haven't released buggy betas or given up on the engine like other mod teams have. i think they deserve top jobs at some sort of big name studio like valve. actually forget that, they can probably start their own studio! Flayra Productions...sounds kitchy, no?
3. dedication to fans and the community: top honours of this without a doubt go to monse but this is generally apparent amongst the other members of the team too. they're not as serious and stuck up as some other mod teams seem to be but at the same time not immature. no wonder we're addicted to their forums! also, on that note by "we" i mean the ns community in which i have not met one single tool yet. an achievement in anyones books.
i think those points sum up why i hang around ns. there's probably more, but i can't seem to think of 'em at the moment (its a bit early in the morning over here )

What kept me here: The Community. And the Right to say "I was around since before Beta 1" 3 years from now when the number of NS players make the CS community look like the Buzzybots commnity.
What will keep me 'til NS: cs_tusoc
Here's My reasons for staying and for getting stuck to it in the first place.
1. The whole idea of a RTS/FPS(with multiplayer! had always been something I was dying for.
2. Profetional, not made by some colledge student as a side project.
3. I have Flay-ritus, and MonsE-ritus..? and Dev-ritus...?? and PT-ritus??!??!
;D
-Have a nice day, Khaim out.
What has kept me here: Mapping for NS isn't something evey average kid Joe can do and the community.
What will keep me here: The magical release date that is always just out of reach
