Running A 3.0 Listen Server With Amx

exits to Windows without any errors
I'm using a clean install of NS, and installed MetaMod, AMX 0.9.6j, and NS2AMX (in that order, of course...) according to the instructions. No other plugins have been installed yet.

I launch NS from the Games menu, and that loads fine. I click on Create Server, pick a map, and Start. It doesn't show the progress window, the music fades out, and 5 seconds later, I'm back in Windows. I see the Steam main menu, and it stares back at me mockingly.

Have I done anything incorrectly, or am I in an impossible situation?

Need a little more information on this one.

Firstly, are you using stock metamod 1.17, or the modified version found here? I highly recommend updating to the modified version if you are not already running it. If you use stock metamod, you will need to add the following line to your command line (not even sure if it will work with listen servers): "+localinfo mm_gamedll dlls/ns.dll". Also note that catalyst packs will not be able to be dropped in with stock metamod 1.17.

Secondly, make sure you load ns2amx from the amx/modules.ini file, and NOT from metamod/plugins.ini or any other source. ns2amx will crash if loaded from any place other than modules.ini.

Thirdly, verify the paths in both plugins.ini and modules.ini are correct.

If you're still having problems, try unloading all plugins and load them up one at a time.

Right on the dot; I was not using the modified version of MM.
