    *edit* that is until Steam eventually puts in the no-internet required code...

    Currently you need internet access to use Steam. Hopefully that will change sometime soon.

    you can still run 3.0 on WON, all you have to do is copy your nsp folder to your HL dir. I believe, theres a thread around here somewhere with it, but im lazy, so you have to look for it.

    Of course it will be playable in LANs, once Steam supports offline gaming. Such a game has to be playable on LAN.

    I haven't pulled it down yet, but a mate reports that it works well.
    I'll have to try it out with NS...
